San Jose Retains Bantamweight Belt at CageSport 57

This past Saturday, bantamweight champion Christopher San Jose successfully defended his title against Portland's Benny Vinson in the CageSport 57 main event bout held at the Seven Feathers Casino Resort in Canyonville, Oregon.

After two contentious rounds, which saw both fighters working submissions to near-completion, San Jose proved victorious with a triangle choke in the third. Eugene (7-1) first captured the 135-pound belt last year at CageSport 51 by defeating Casey Johnson. With Saturday's loss, challenger Vinson drops to 10-6-1.

In the CageSport 57 co-main event bout, D.J. Linderman, a veteran of 22 fights, bested Jared Torgeson with a second-round armbar. Three more notable finishes topped off the exciting card with featherweight Kevin Boehm, who is San Jose's teammate at The Art of War, securing a first-round KO win over Jason Gray. Patrick Benson lost his lightweight match against Quinten Wyland by way of round one triangle choke, and Chaz Gurule also felt the sting of defeat by way of a Brandon Cromartie first-round KO.
