When Georges St. Pierre climbs into the cage in a little more than a month, his current title reign at 170 pounds will have eclipsed 2,000 days.

St. Pierre will defend his Ultimate Fighting Championship welterweight crown against Johny Hendricks in the UFC 167 main event on Nov. 16 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas. The 32-year-old French Canadian has never lost in Sin City, having compiled a perfect 10-0 record there.

Anchored at the Tristar Gym, St. Pierre will carry a career-best 11-fight winning streak into the Octagon. He last appeared at UFC 158 in March, when he cruised to a unanimous verdict over former Strikeforce champion Nick Diaz at the Bell Centre in Montreal. “Rush” has gone the distance in each of his past six outings, scoring wins over Diaz, Carlos Condit, Jake Shields, Josh Koscheck, Dan Hardy and Thiago Alves. According to FightMetric figures, no fighter in UFC history has landed more total strikes (2,398), connected on more significant strikes (1,153) or secured more takedowns (84) than St. Pierre.

Hendricks was a four-time NCAA All-American wrestler and two-time national champion at Oklahoma State University. The 30-year-old Ada, Okla., native has not competed since he outpointed Condit at UFC 158 for his sixth consecutive victory seven months ago. His amateur wrestling pedigree notwithstanding, “Big Rigg” has become known for a devastating left hand that resulted in quick first-round knockouts against Jon Fitch and Martin Kampmann; neither man lasted a minute. Hendricks owns a 10-1 record since joining the UFC in August 2009, a unanimous decision defeat to Rick Story at “The Ultimate Fighter 12” Finale the only blemish.
