After a traumatic loss to Vitor Belfort in his Octagon debut, Luke Rockhold returned to form in the UFC Fight Night 35 headliner on Wednesday night, as he dispatched Costas Philippou with a wicked kick to the liver just 2:31 into the opening round of their middleweight matchup. A short right hook from the American Kickboxing Academy standout rattled Philippou before Rockhold finished the job with a pair of devastating kicks.
It was the ninth first-round finish for Rockhold, who called out both Belfort and Michael Bisping during his post-fight interview. No matter what the future holds, the former Strikeforce titlist has re-established himself as a force to be reckoned with in the division.
