This late-notice addition to the card should at least be a fun sprint. Ahead of her 2020 UFC debut, the scouting report was that Egger was mostly a one-dimensional submission threat, and she has mostly lived up to that billing. Her fights are typically a race towards a finish, and while she has been able to snatch a few limbs and find her way to victory, she has just as often gotten herself tapped out against fellow strong grapplers. Egger never read as a particularly undersized bantamweight, so it was a surprise when she started trying to get a debut at flyweight on the books—something that has fallen through a few times. While this fight is at 135 pounds, she faces a natural flyweight in Santos here. Santos came to the UFC in August clearly far from a finished product, showing some flashes as a wrestler and grappler on the regional scene but nothing particularly consistent. Her UFC debut win over Juliana Miller was a messy fight, though Santos was able to gut through a quick and entertaining affair with durability and aggression. This should be strength against strength, and while there is a decent chance that Egger charges into danger against an opponent capable of counter-grappling, the lack of the weight cut means she should be the more effective bully when the two lock up. The pick is Egger via first-round submission.
