Couture, the former wife of UFC Hall of Famer Randy Couture, took a beating from Rose in her MMA debut. Despite breaking her jaw in two places early in the first round, “Sugar Free” carried on for the duration of the fight, losing by unanimous decision. The brutal nature of the bout led many MMA pundits and fans alike to question why “The Natural” refused to throw in the towel at any point during the scrap. In order to set the record straight, Couture told Sherdog.com in 2008 that she chalked up the broken jaw to Rose’s refusal to touch gloves.

“Well, I just walked out there to touch gloves and she just hit me. She wasn’t interested in touching gloves and that first shot is what broke my jaw,” Couture said. “My left hand wasn’t even up to protect myself; it was straight out to touch her glove. She took her shot, connected it and dropped me. That first shot is what broke it.”
