Song has not been particularly active in recent years, but he has had a surprisingly solid UFC career since making his debut in 2017. A powerfully built athlete, “The Assassin” has mostly leaned on his physical gifts to find success. Song does not fight at much of a pace, but he brings enough knockout power that he can turn out the lights of opponents on the fringes of the UFC roster when he lands. Song returned from nearly a two-year layoff in March as a test for top prospect Ian Garry and almost scored the upset with a huge punch in a fight that otherwise mostly went the Irishman’s way. He will look to rebound and get a win over Bedoya. Peru’s Bedoya certainly earned his UFC shot earlier this year by running his way through an increasingly solid scene in his homeland, but he did not look to have much to hang his hat on when it came to competing at a higher level. That made it a surprise when his UFC debut was essentially an even fight against Kalinn Williams, as Bedoya showed a well-rounded and scrappy game in a split decision loss against a tough opponent. This is a similar style matchup against a slow-paced power puncher, and it should also be fairly even as a result. Given Bedoya’s durability and the fact that Song is a shade less potent than Williams, the lean is that the Peruvian can be on the right side of a decision this time around. The pick is Bedoya via decision.
