By The Numbers: Johnny Walker
The charismatic Brazilian spurred interest in his rise with a spectacular Octagon debut, as he leveled Khalil Rountree with a close-quarters elbow strike at UFC Fight Night 140 on Nov. 17, 2018. His hype train only picked up steam from there. In two subsequent appearances, Walker obliterated Justin Ledet and Misha Cirkunov in less than a minute combined. So it was that he entered his ill-fated UFC 244 confrontation with Corey Anderson on a nine-fight winning streak, only to succumb to punches from “The Ultimate Fighter” Season 19 winner 2:07 into the first round. A unanimous decision loss to Nikita Krylov four months later knocked more shine off of Walker’s star and clouded his immediate future.
