After a puzzling performance against Antonio Rogerio Nogueira in his last outing at UFC 156, Rashad Evans needed a bounceback effort in the worst way. It didn’t come easily, but “Suga” avoided a three-fight skid by taking a hard-earned split verdict over Dan Henderson in the UFC 161 headliner on Saturday night. Henderson had the Blackzilians representative reeling in the opening frame, but Evans was able to survive and outpace “Hendo” during the final 10 minutes of the contest.

Things didn’t turn out as well for fan favorite Roy Nelson, whose title hopes were derailed by Stipe Miocic in the evening’s co-main event. “Big Country” was never able to get untracked against Miocic, who kept his portly opponent off balance with solid punching combinations throughout the fight. 20: Significant strikes in the clinch landed by Henderson. Meanwhile, Evans landed seven significant clinch strikes.

9: Decisions in 11 bouts at UFC 161. By comparison, last week’s UFC on Fuel TV 10 card featured just two decisions in 12 bouts.

1: Women’s bout, among the four held thus far in the UFC, to go the distance after Alexis Davis captured a unanimous decision against Rosi Sexton in a bantamweight bout on Saturday night.

176: Total strikes landed by Davis and Sexton combined. Davis outlanded Sexton 161 to 115, including a 99 to 20 edge in round two.

11: UFC bouts without consecutive victories for Pat Barry, who suffered a first-round TKO loss to Shawn Jordan in their heavyweight conflict. Only Wanderlei Silva, who once went 12 fights without back-to-back wins in the Octagon, has a longer streak.

18: Takedowns successfully defended by Tyron Woodley against Jake Shields. Despite his airtight defense, Woodley lost a split decision to the former Strikeforce champion.

22: Significant strikes by which Shields outlanded Woodley. The Cesar Gracie Fight Team representative outlanded Woodley 38 to 17 in round one and 19 to 18 in round two. Both fighters landed 25 significant strikes in the third stanza.

15-4-1: Record for Shields in fights that go the distance. Shields’ last six victories have come via decision, while his most recent finish came when he submitted Robbie Lawler with a guillotine choke in 2009.

13: Seconds remaining in the third round when James Krause submitted Sam Stout with a guillotine choke. It would have been Stout’s 14th decision in the Octagon, the most of anyone in promotion history.

922: Significant strikes landed by Stout in his UFC career, No. 3 all-time in the promotion behind only Michael Bisping and Georges St. Pierre.

139: Total strikes landed by Kenny Robertson in losing a majority decision against Sean Pierson. The striking totals were relatively even in rounds one and two, but Robertson authored a dominant third frame, outlanding Pierson 83 to 2.

6: Takedowns landed, in 11 attempts, by Roland Delorme in his unanimous decision victory over Edwin Figueroa. Delorme also attempted two submissions and passed guard 11 times.

26: Significant strikes by which Figueroa outlanded Delorme in rounds two and three combined. “El Feroz” turned up the intensity of his attack in round three, outlanding his Canadian opponent 28 to 6.

6-1: Record of Canadian fighters in bouts against opponents from other nations. Ryan Jimmo, Alexis Davis, Sean Pierson, Roland Delorme, Mitch Clarke and Yves Jabouin all claimed victories, while Sam Stout was the only Canadian to lose.
