It wasn’t the ending anyone envisioned, but Dustin Poirier is now 2-1 against Conor McGregor.

“The Diamond” emerged victorious in the UFC 264 headliner after McGregor suffered a leg injury while throwing a punch in the waning seconds of Round 1. With the Irish star’s leg twisted at an awkward angle, it was a no-brainer to wave off the bout after five minutes. Only time will tell if a fourth bout is in the cards for the two lightweight rivals.

For now, here is a by-the-numbers look at UFC 264, with statistics courtesy of UFCStats.com.

36: Significant strikes landed by Poirier in one round of action. By comparison, McGregor landed 27. Poirier notably held a 28-to-9 advantage in significant ground strikes. McGregor notably outlanded his foe by an 8-to-1 count in significant leg strikes.

8: KO/TKO triumphs for Poirier after his doctor stoppage win at UFC 264. On Saturday, he surpassed Edson Barboza and Melvin Guillard for the top spot all-time at lightweight.

1,527: Career significant strikes landed by Poirier after Saturday night, No. 6 in UFC history. The American Top Team product is just one of six fighters in UFC history to land more than 1,500 signficant strikes. The others: Max Holloway, Donald Cerrone, Joanna Jedrzejczyk, Frankie Edgar and Michael Bisping.

3:18: Total control time in the bout for Poirier, who assumed top position after McGregor attempted an ill-advised guillotine.

20: UFC wins for Poirier. Only eight fighters in promotion history have reached that mark.

3: Takedowns landed in six attempts by Gilbert Burns in a unanimous decision triumph over Stephen Thompson at welterweight. That’s the most takedowns landed by a “Wonderboy” foe since Matt Brown grounded him five times at UFC 145 in 2012.

7:13: Total control time logged by Burns in the 15-minute affair. Thompson failed to secure a single second of control in defeat.

101: Total strikes landed by Burns. By comparison, Thompson landed 59. Burns also held a 29-to-19 edge in significant strikes landed.

3: Consecutive first-round finishes in UFC competition for Tai Tuivasa, who needed just 67 seconds to put Greg Hardy away in a featured heavyweight bout.

52: Combined significant strikes landed by Tuivasa in stoppages of Hardy (11), Harry Hunsucker (14) and Stefan Struve (27).

4: KO/TKO triumphs in UFC competition for Sean O’Malley, tying him for the fourth most in the history of the divison. O’Malley cruised to a third-round technical victory over short-notice foe Kris Moutinho on Saturday night.

230: Significant strikes landed by O’Malley, a UFC bantamweight record. Petr Yan previously held the record, landing 194 in a triumph over Jose Aldo at UFC 251. O’Malley’s total is the second most ever in a UFC fight behind the 238 Nate Diaz landed in a win against Donald Cerrone at UFC 141.

160: Significant strikes by which O’Malley outlanded Moutinho. That’s the largest differential ever for a UFC bantamweight bout, topping Vaughn Lee’s 118 significant strike advantage against Nam Phan at “The Ultimate Fighter: China” finale. It’s also the third largest differential for a bout in UFC history, regardless of weight class.

83: Significant strikes landed by O’Malley in the third round, the highest ever for a single round at 135 pounds. O’Malley also landed 77 significant strikes in Round 1and 70 in Round 2, the second and fourth most in bantamweight history, respectively.

93: Significant strikes landed by Max Griffin in a three-round verdict over Carlos Condit at welterweight. Griffin outlanded his foe 34 to 13 in Round 1, 29 to 28 in Round 2 and 30 to 22 in Round 3.

28: Significant leg strikes landed by Griffin, including 16 in Round 1. By comparison, Condit landed 11 significant leg strikes.

2-6: Record for Condit since 2016. During that time, “The Natural Born Killer’ has only earned triumphs over Court McGee and Matt Brown.

92: Significant strikes landed by Michel Pereira in a unanimous decision win over Niko Price at welterweight. That ranks as a career high in six UFC appearances for the Brazilian known as “Demolidor.” By comparison, Price landed 76 significant strikes.

47: Significant strikes landed by Price in Round 3, when he had a fatigued Pereira on his heels. Pereira landed 33 significant strikes in the frame.

15: Significant ground strikes, out of 18 total, landed by Ilia Topuria in a first-round knockout victory against Brazilian jiu-jitsu black belt Ryan Hall at featherweight. Topuria held an 18-to-10 edge in significant strikes landed overall and a 15-to-1 advantage in significant ground strikes.

9: First-round finishes — including both of his UFC appearances — for Topuria, who improved to 11-0 as a professional with his triumph over Hall.

16: Finishes among 16 professional victories for former KSW and EFC title holder Dricus Du Plessis, who scored a second-round knockout of Trevin Giles in a preliminary middleweight affair. The South African fighter has finished seven triumphs via KO/TKO and nine by way of submission.

9: Unofficial media scorecards, of the 17 tracked by MMADecisions.com, that awarded the flyweight clash between Jessica Eye and Jennifer Maia to Eye. Meanwhile, Adalaide Byrd, Derek Cleary and Sal D’Amato all submitted tallies in favor of Maia.

100: Significant strikes landed by Eye. Maia landed 98 in a competitive three round affair. While Maia held a 71-to-56 advantage in significant head strikes, Eye outlanded her foe 24 to 16 in body strikes and 20 to 11 in leg strikes.

14: UFC victories for Brad Tavares. That ties him with Anderson Silva for the second most in the history of the middleweight division. Only Michael Bisping (16) has more. Tavares defeated Omari Akhmedov via split decision on Saturday night.

34: Significant strike advantage for Tavares, who outlanded Akhmedov by an 84-to-48 count. That ranks as the second-biggest differential of the Hawaiian’s UFC tenure, behind a decision triumph over Riki Fukuda in 2013 where he outlanded his foe 116 to 69.
