The Professional Fighters League concluded its regular season by putting the welterweight and featherweight divisions on display. While neither weight class saw a competitor max out their points this year, a handful of undefeated fighters claws their way into the playoffs. PFL 6, 2024 Regular Season featured the worst cut of the year for exactly one day, a snake-like submission and a ridiculous betting line for an inevitable victor.

A Goat’s Something: To end his season as the featherweight points leader, Brendan Loughnane hacked a hole in Justin Gonzales’ head to force the second-round stoppage. His is the third headlining doctor stoppage win in company history, joining Justin Gaethje and Smealinho Rama in 2016 and 2018, respectively.

He Goes to 11: Loughnane joins Impa Kasanganay with 11 points, tying one another for the most points scored this season by a male fighter. Dakota Ditcheva surpassed them both with 12.

Ocean’s 11: The win was Loughnane’s 11th on the PFL roster since joining the league at the end of the 2019 season. He is one of 11 competitors in company history to notch more than 10 victories inside its cage.

Logan Snoreley: When Bellator MMA vet Logan Storley won a decision over Luca Poclit to pick up three points, he was eliminated from playoff contention. Welterweight is the only bracket of the six where no Bellator crossover fighters reached the final four.

It Is His Destiny: Magomed Umalatov conquered Brennan Ward via submission to improve his spotless record to 16-0 and claim the no. 2 seed at 170 pounds. It marked his second submission, with his first coming in his pro debut in 2015.

Umalaconda: Umalatov hit an anaconda choke on Ward to procure the stoppage. His is just the second sub of its type in organizational history, with the first when Trey Williams put Jamie Point to sleep with one at WSOF 17 in 2015.

Even Ian Parker Would Pass: Umalatov closed as a tremendous -3300 betting favorite ahead of his match with Ward. He is the fifth fighter in promotional history to reach or eclipse the -3000 margin, joining Andre Harrison, Kayla Harrison, Ditcheva and Ben Woolliss.

Retire Again and Get a Free Sundae: After suffering the loss to Umalatov, which put him on his first-ever three-fight skid, Ward retired from the sport a second time—he first called it in 2018. If the 36-year-old does not return to MMA, he leaves behind a ledger where only one of his 26 pro outings went to the scorecards.

Big Gap: Missing weight by nearly five pounds, Gabriel Braga accepted a point deduction and a fine to beat Bubba Jenkins via injury stoppage. With four points added to his previous six, the Brazilian ends his season as the #2 featherweight with a date against Timur Khizriev in a few months.

Need Greater Penalties: Braga is the second PFL fighter to miss weight and still pick up a win at night’s end this year, with the first Daniel James. The other five to do so all came up short.

Bummer for Bubba: The loss for Jenkins was his fifth since coming to the PFL in 2021. He becomes the ninth competitor in combined World Series of Fighting-PFL history to sustain that many defeats.

Deep Knowledge: Making his way to the PFL to crush Alan Dominguez with a knee and follow-up punches, Lorenz Larkin prevailed in the night’s lone non-tourney bout. He is one of a tiny crop of fighters who have picked up wins in Strikeforce, the Ultimate Fighting Championship, Bellator and PFL, joining Shawn Jordan and Liz Carmouche.

Some Playoff Luck: To push his pro record to 16-0 and a draw while also claiming the top welterweight seed, Shamil Musaev clobbered Murad Ramazanov in the second stanza. Later this year, Musaev will face Ramazanov in the playoffs.

Cannot Finish a Sandwich: Thanks to decisions over Bubba Jenkins and Pedro Carvalho, Kai Kamaka III squeaked into the featherweight playoff as the fourth seed. “The Fighting Hawaiian” has only collected two stoppage wins across his 14 triumphs.

Not Appointment Viewing: With six points courtesy of a pair of decision victories over Brett Johns and Enrique Barzola, Timur Khizriev is the no. 3 seed at 145 pounds while still a perfect 16-0. The Dagestan native holds a low finish rate of 25%, with his last five outings all hearing the final bell.

So Close, Yet So Very Far: Neiman Gracie saw his playoff aspirations dissipate when he could not finish Don Madge and ultimately settled for a decision. It marked his third as a pro, with his last two wins accounting for two of those.

Never Say Never Again: Coming into PFL 2024 6, Poclit had never lost on the scorecards (11 fights), Dominguez had never been knocked out (17 fights) and Ramazanov had never been defeated (13 fights).
