Quinton ‘Rampage’ Jackson: By The Numbers

Neither age nor mileage has been able to keep Quinton Jackson from serving as a headlining attraction. “Rampage,” it seems remains a draw.

One of the most accomplished competitors in mixed martial arts history, Jackson will start his latest run at an organizational championship when he faces Chael Sonnen in the Bellator MMA heavyweight grand prix quarterfinals atop Bellator 192 this Saturday at The Forum in Inglewood, California. The winner moves on to meet either Fedor Emelianenko or Frank Mir in the tournament semis. “Rampage” has won five of his last six fights but has not appeared since losing a unanimous decision to Muhammed Lawal in their Bellator 175 rematch on March 31. The setback was his first in more than four years and dropped his record under the Bellator banner to 4-1.

As Jackson prepares for his three-round battle with Sonnen, here are some of the numbers that have come to define him across an 18-plus-year career that now spans 49 fights:

2: Losses by submission. Kazushi Sakuraba and Jon Jones were the perpetrators.

3: Knockout defeats on his resume. Jackson was victimized by Wanderlei Silva (twice) and Mauricio Rua.

4: Countries in which he has competed as a professional mixed martial artist. They are the United States, Japan, Canada and England.

5: Victories over onetime UFC champions. “Rampage” has defeated Liddell (twice), Lyoto Machida, Murilo Bustamante and Kevin Randleman.

8: Knockdowns landed in UFC competition. According to FightMetric, Jackson still ranks fifth on the promotion’s all-time list among light heavyweights in the category. Only Liddell (14), Rua (13), Machida (11) and Alexander Gustafsson (nine) have more.

16: First-round finishes to his credit. His list of victims includes Liddell, Randleman, Silva, Igor Vovchanchyn and Ricardo Arona.

23: Wins by knockout, technical knockout or submission. They account for 62 percent of his career total.

11: Men other than Jackson who have captured the undisputed UFC light heavyweight championship. They are Liddell, Jones, Machida, Rua, Frank Shamrock, Tito Ortiz, Randy Couture, Vitor Belfort, Forrest Griffin, Rashad Evans and Daniel Cormier.

39: Years of age. Jackson was born in Memphis, Tennessee, on June 20, 1978.

248: Combined victories between the 11 men -- Sakuraba (26), Lawal (21), Jones (22), Evans (19), Griffin (19), Rua (25), Silva (35), Glover Teixeira (27), Ryan Bader (24), Daijiro Matsui (12) and Marvin Eastman (18) -- to whom Jackson has lost. He was disqualified against Matsui after a knee to the groin.
