Rony ‘Jason’ Handed 30-Day Suspension for Backstage Misconduct at UFC Fight Night 32

UFC featherweight Rony Mariano Bezerra has been suspended for 30 days by the Brazilian MMA Athletic Commission (CABMMA) for “anti-sportsmanship conduct” following his fight at UFC Fight Night 32.

Bezerra saw an eight-fight winning streak snapped by Jeremy Stephens, who knocked out “Jason” with a first-round head kick at Goiania Arena in Goiania, Brazil. The event aired live on Fox Sports 1 and was headlined by a light heavyweight rematch between Vitor Belfort and Dan Henderson.

Following his defeat to Stephens, Bezerra reportedly lashed out backstage, punching a wall and accidentally lacerating his arm, according to UFC President Dana White. In addition to the 30-day suspension for his actions, the Brazilian was also medically suspended 180 days by CABMMA for precautionary reasons following his knockout.

Bezerra became the featherweight winner of “TUF: Brazil” last year, fighting his way to the live finale at UFC 147 and picking up a unanimous decision over Godofredo Castro. Two more victories followed for the 29-year-old, who finished Sam Sicilia and Mike Wilkinson before running into Stephens.
