TUF 2 Debuts to Solid Numbers

Considering the build up and significant amount of advertising
dollars spent on the debut of the second season of Spike TV's "The
Ultimate Fighter," Monday's 1.7 rating does not sound like a
spectacular number, but a closer look reveals the reality-show's
initial effort was a strong one.
An estimated 2.1 million people tuned in last night to see 18 new fighters begin their trek at becoming the next Forrest Griffin (Pictures) or Diego Sanchez (Pictures). TUF 2 ratings jumped 38-percent over the debut of TUF 1 on January 17, 2005 among men 18-49, making it the most-watched ad-supported cable program in those key demographics during its time slot.
According to Spike TV, sizable gains were made across the board when compared to the debut of TUF 1. The biggest increase, over 120 percent, came from male viewers between 25-34.
