Robert Drysdale vs. Keith Berish

Round 1

Drysdale opens with a front kick that pushes Berish out of range, then repeats when the New Yorker walks back inside. After the second kick, Drysdale lunges toward Berish with a pair of wide punches and then changes levels for a quick double-leg takedown at the base of the fence. The jiu-jitsu ace immediately attaches himself to Berish’s back with a body triangle and starts working for a neck crank. Berish resists the pressure and powers up to his feet with Drysdale still on his back. Berish’s left knee buckles gruesomely and he falls to the mat, where Drysdale sinks in a deep rear-naked choke to force the tap.

The Official Result

Robert Drysdale def. Keith Berish via Submission (Rear-Naked Choke) R1 2:03

Alexis Dufresne vs. Sarah Moras

Round 1

Dufresne lands a quick overhand right and a leg kick behind it, but Moras counters right back with a crisp combination of four or five punches that rock the Team Quest fighter’s head. Dufresne clinches up near the fence and trips Moras to the ground, where “Cheesecake” pushes Dufresne from half back to full guard. Moras creeps her legs up, angling for an armbar or triangle, and Dufresne opts to stand. Dufresne quickly dives back down, this time moving to cross side control on Moras’ right side. Moras scores with elbows from underneath while Dufresne knees at the grounded fighter’s body. Dufresne tries to move from knee-on-belly to full mount but is blocked by Moras and has to settle for a high half guard. Moras puts Dufresne in full guard and continues to score with punches off her back, keeping active with both hands while Dufresne buries her head in Moras’ chest. With 45 seconds left, Dufresne lands a hard right hand and stands up, only to be popped by a stiff upkick. Dufresne comes back down again with another right hand and rides out the final 20 seconds.

Sherdog Scores

Jeff Sherwood scores the round 10-9 Moras
Chris Nelson scores the round 10-9 Moras
C.J. Tuttle scores the round 10-9 Dufresne

Round 2

Dufresne comes in behind a combination and moves straight to the clinch, then trips Moras to the canvas 30 seconds into the round. They spend a minute on the ground, Moras trying to land short punches from the bottom, Dufresne working to improve position but not getting much done. Referee Yves Lavigne stands them up, and now it’s Moras tying up and tripping Dufresne to the mat. Moras puts Dufresne’s head against the fence and postures up in the American’s full guard, but Dufresne is doing well to control Moras’ wrists and neutralize any offense. Referee Lavigne orders the 135ers back up, and Moras shoots for another single-leg. She nearly gets mounted off the botched takedown attempt, but Moras keeps hold of Dufresne’s leg and uses it to sweep. A hard elbow connects for Moras, then a good left hand about 20 seconds later. Dufresne uses wrist control to set up an omoplata sweep before the round ends.

Sherdog Scores

Jeff Sherwood scores the round 10-9 Moras
Chris Nelson scores the round 10-9 Moras
C.J. Tuttle scores the round 10-9 Moras

Round 3

Dufresne gets a head-and-arm tie-up and tosses Moras to the ground, where she keeps the position in side control and scores with short punches. Dufresne leans across Moras’ body now, right to left, landing elbows and punches to the body for much of the opening two minutes of the round. Moras is bleeding from her nose, trying to give Dufresne some offense in return, but there’s not much room for strikes. Dufresne is back in Moras’ full guard now, again burying her head in her opponent’s body as the clock ticks down. With two minutes left, Dufresne stands up and dives back down to Moras’, almost getting caught in a triangle. Moras transitions to an ambar, can’t get that either as Dufresne stands, but she does manage to crack Dufresne with another hard upkick. Moras pushes off the fence with her feet, trying to free herself from Dufresne’s side control with just about 60 seconds remaining. At the 30-second mark, Moras throws up another armbar, transitions to a triangle and then a toe hold as time runs out.

Sherdog Scores

Jeff Sherwood scores the round 10-9 Moras (30-27 Moras)
Chris Nelson scores the round 10-9 Dufresne (29-28 Moras)

Dan Spohn vs. Patrick Walsh

Round 1

Spohn keeps Walsh out of range with some long punches and snappy high kicks on the smaller man. Walsh waits 45 seconds before diving on a double-leg and plowing Spohn to the canvas. Spohn grabs a guillotine with his left arm on the way down, but Walsh is positioned well in half guard and resists the choke. Walsh peels Spohn’s hands away to free himself from the sub attempt, and now “The Dragon” puts Walsh in his closed guard. Walsh is back in half guard midway through the round, leaning right to left across Spohn’s body to try a kimura on the left arm. Walsh switches to a straight armbar, still can’t get the tap and releases. After moving to three-quarter, Walsh tries the armbar again but still can’t get it fully extended. Walsh finishes the round atop Spohn in side control.

Sherdog Scores

Jeff Sherwood scores the round 10-9 Walsh
Chris Nelson scores the round 10-9 Walsh
C.J. Tuttle scores the round 10-9 Walsh

Round 2

Walsh walks straight into the pocket with hands by his side, shoots low on Spohn and brings him down with a single-leg near the fence. He tries a kimura but over-commits to the lock and gets swept for his troubles. Spohn frees his arm and postures up in Walsh’s guard, then jumps on the Team Edgar fighter’s back as they stand. Walsh hula-hoops Spohn off his back and steps backward to the middle of the cage. Spohn gives chase and lands a right hook, but he whiffs on the three-punch combination behind it. Walsh is able to grab hold of Spohn but can’t complete the takedown this time. Spohn hunts for a guillotine as he defends the single with his back to the fence, gives it up at the 90-second mark and gets slammed to the ground. Walsh leans right to left across Spohn and peppers his “TUF” castmate with short punches to the body and head for the last minute.

Sherdog Scores

Jeff Sherwood scores the round 10-9 Walsh
Chris Nelson scores the round 10-9 Walsh
C.J. Tuttle scores the round 10-9 Spohn

Round 3

Spohn connects with a right hook, steps inside on Walsh and zaps him with a stiff left cross. Spohn looks for the clinch, but Walsh changes levels for a high double-leg and the wrestler completes another takedown with ease. Walsh lies atop Spohn in half guard with four minutes to work. When Spohn tries to roll over, Walsh sinks a hook and looks to take the back. Spohn puts his back to the mat again, then clambers back to his feet. Walsh sticks with him the whole way and hits another double-leg takedown with 1:50 on the clock. Referee Mark Smith brings the 205ers back to their feet after 30 seconds of inactivity, and now Spohn comes alive. Spohn has a high kick blocked but lands a pair of huge knees in the Thai plum. Walsh pushes his man against the fence, shooting for a desperation double-leg, and Spohn willingly goes down while trying to cinch a guillotine. Bloodied from the strikes, Walsh pulls his head free and drops some minor punches on Spohn’s body. Spohn stands and sprawls, landing a pair of left hands in the final seconds while Walsh clings to a single-leg.

Sherdog Scores

Jeff Sherwood scores the round 10-9 Spohn (29-28 Walsh)

Adriano Martins vs. Juan Manuel Puig

Round 1

Martins gets the better of the opening exchange, punching through Puig’s combinations with hard overhand rights and left hooks. He catches a kick and trips Puig to the ground, but the Mexican fighter is back on his feet right away. Puig comes forward to land a couple outside leg kicks, but Martins is still deflecting the power punches. Martins is checking the kicks now, looking to counter over the top. He blasts Puig with a big left straight, and Puig lands a kick square to the Brazilian’s cup. Martins takes a minute to recover and tells referee Yves Lavigne that he’s ready to continue. Martins takes a leg kick, steps backward and waits for Puig to charge into range. When Puig gets close, Martins obliterates the “Fenix” with a short right hook right on the jaw. Puig crumbles to the ground face-first, and referee Lavigne steps in to stop the bout.

The Official Result

Adriano Martins def. Juan Manuel Puig via KO (Punch) R1 2:21

Leandro Issa vs. Jumabieke Tuerxun

Round 1

Issa paws with a jab and lands three of kicks to Tuerxun’s lead leg in the opening 30 seconds. Tuerxun looks for power punches with both hands but gets cut off by Issa’s jab and then hit with more leg kicks. Tuerxun connects with a good right hand to the body just as an inside thigh kick from Issa strays to the groin. Tuerxun recovers quickly, and the fight resumes with Issa taking up position in the center of the cage, continuing to punish Tuerxun’s legs as the “Leopard” circles the outside. Tuerxun stuffs a takedown attempt from Issa, but the Chinese fighter limps a bit as Issa lands another crisp leg kick. Down to the final two minutes of the opening round, and now Tuerxun gets his jab working a bit. Issa blocks a left high kick, but Tuerxun rushes inside and clips him with a wild overhand right. Tuerxun is swinging for the fences while Issa looks to pick him off with straight countershots. Tuerxun knocks Issa to the ground with a left hook, chases after the wobbly Brazilian and sprawls on a shot. Issa is forced down to the base of the fence and takes a couple short punches just before the round ends.

Sherdog Scores

Jeff Sherwood scores the round 10-9 Tuerxun
Chris Nelson scores the round 10-9 Tuerxun
C.J. Tuttle scores the round 10-9 Tuerxun

Round 2

Tuerxun tries to replicate his punching success from the end of last round, but Issa is on his back foot early here, counter with heavy leg kicks. Tuerxun keeps coming and starts finding his range, sticking his right hand in Issa’s face repeatedly and bloodying the jiu-jitsu stylist’s nose. Issa shoots for a single-leg, gets stuffed to the ground and pulls guard. Issa triangles Tuerxun’s legs and grabs the cage to complete a sweep, and referee Mario Yamasaki instantly pauses the action to deduct a point from Issa. The round resumes with about three minutes remaining, and Issa stays on the outside, picking at Tuerxun with leg kicks until he’s able to score a takedown. Tuerxun won’t stay down, scrambling back to his feet to continue marching forward on Issa with jabs. Issa clips with a hook, shoots a double and gets sprawled on. Both guys look tired as round two ends. Issa drops Tuerxun to the ground with a leg kick and jumps on a guillotine just as time runs out.

Sherdog Scores

Jeff Sherwood scores the round 9-9
Chris Nelson scores the round 9-9
C.J. Tuttle scores the round 10-8 Tuerxun

Round 3

Issa scores an early takedown and works his way into position for a guillotine, then tries to modify the choke as Tuerxun flips over. Tuerxun resists the choke, so Issa steps over and tries to finish with a guillotine from full mount. Tuerxun spends a long time fighting off the choke, and it looks like he might succumb, but somehow he stays conscious. Issa goes back to side control, works some ground-and-pound with punches and elbows to Tuerxun’s body and head. Back to mount goes Issa, and this time he peels off to try an armbar on Tuerxun’s right arm. Tuerxun resists at first, defending the submission from his back, but when Issa turns to his side and extends the arm with Tuerxun’s hand trapped beneath his armpit, the Chinese fighter taps out.

The Official Result

Leandro Issa def. Jumabieke Tuerxun via Submission (Armbar) R3 3:49

Kevin Lee vs. Jesse Ronson

Round 1

Lee shoots for an immediate single-leg and pushes Ronson to the fence, where “The Motown Phenom” switches to a double and continues digging for the takedown. Ronson defends well and shoves Lee away, but it’s only a matter of seconds before Lee comes in on another single-leg. Ronson thwarts this attempt, too, and knocks Lee to the ground with a counter leg kick. Lee pops up, takes a hard punch to the body and dives on another takedown attempt. This one doesn’t last long, as Lee gives it up to stand and hit Ronson with a speedy one-two. Lee circles to his right, waits for Ronson to follow and tags the Canadian with a pair of heavy right hands in the pocket. Lee tries a body-lock takedown in the center of the cage, but Ronson shows great balance and hops backward to utilize the fence for balance. Lee peels Ronson off the fence and deposits him on the floor. Ronson is back up seconds later, still trapped against the cage, and Lee hits him with a standing elbow before scoring a takedown. Lee jumps on Ronson’s back and finishes the round dropping punches.

Sherdog Scores

Jeff Sherwood scores the round 10-9 Lee
Chris Nelson scores the round 10-9 Lee
C.J. Tuttle scores the round 10-9 Lee

Round 2

Ronson starts round two pressing forward on Lee, connecting with left straights and low kicks from the southpaw stance. “The Body Snatcher” stuffs a Lee takedown attempt near the fence but gets brought down to his knees after a struggle. Lee can’t keep Ronson on the mat, and the Canadian punishes with a knee to the gut as he stands. With three minutes to go, the lightweights stand up and separate, and Lee strikes with a hard, straight right down the middle. Lee gets a double-leg takedown in the middle of the cage but takes a knee to the gut in the process. Ronson sits up, looking for a guillotine, can’t get it but powers back to his feet with about 80 seconds to go. Now it’s Ronson initiating a clinch on the fence and hitting Lee with a knee on the exit. Lee walks into a left hand and opts to shoot again, and he finishes the round holding Ronson on the fence.

Sherdog Scores

Jeff Sherwood scores the round 10-9 Ronson
Chris Nelson scores the round 10-9 Ronson
C.J. Tuttle scores the round 10-9 Lee

Round 3

Lee resumes his takedown attempt from the previous round, shoving Ronson against the fence, but now Ronson forces him to back out by threatening with a standing kimura. Ronson presses ahead, lands a kick to the body and a pair of straight left hands upstairs. Lee dives on a long single-leg in the center, and Ronson limp-legs away. Ronson sprawls on another shot, hits Lee with a left as he stands and then deposits the American on the ground near the fence. Ronson moves to take the back and sinks in a rear-naked choke, but Ronson doesn’t have his hooks in and Lee is able to turn over and take top position with two minutes on the clock. Ronson rolls to his knees and Lee tries to move from side control to back mount. Ronson stands and attempts to slip out the back door, as Lee is riding pretty high. Ronson peels away one hook and controls lee’s right wrist to shake him off. With 20 seconds remaining, Ronson walks into the pocket, slips a combination from Lee and lands a leg kick. Ronson gets the better of the final exchange with a pair of straight lefts, but this one will be decided by the judges.

Dustin Ortiz vs. Justin Scoggins

Round 1

The flyweights move to the fence immediately, Ortiz on the outside with a high body lock, looking for a trip takedown. Thirty seconds in, Ortiz brings Scoggins to the mat and tries to navigate the American Top Team fighter’s active guard. Scoggins swings his arms around to try an armbar from underneath, but Ortiz stacks him up. Scoggins keeps hold of Ortiz’s left arm and goes belly-down to extend the armbar, dragging Ortiz down to his knees. Ortiz withstands the submission, and now both 125ers return to their feet. Scoggins takes the outside position now, pinning Ortiz against the fence and working for a takedown for 20 seconds or so. Ortiz explodes out of the clinch to land an elbow, but he over-commits coming into the pocket and nearly has his back taken in a scramble. Scoggins retains the outside position with an underhook, ducks under and takes Ortiz to the ground again. They scramble again and Scoggins flips Ortiz over the top with a guillotine that doesn’t stick. Up they come near the end of the round, and Ortiz finishes the round strong with a short right hook, then a wider left.

Sherdog Scores

Jeff Sherwood scores the round 10-9 Scoggins
Chris Nelson scores the round 10-9 Scoggins
C.J. Tuttle scores the round 10-9 Scoggins

Round 2

Ortiz connects with a body kick, a left hook and a right straight before having a single-leg shot stuffed by Scoggins, who works to turn the position into a crucifix on his kneeling opponent. Ortiz keeps driving on the takedown and shakes Scoggins to the ground when he tries to take the back. Now it’s Ortiz on top in cross side control on Scoggins’ right, with 3:20 on the clock. Scoggins puts him back in half guard and tries to kick out, but Ortiz stays heavy on top. Ortiz tries to get busy with left-handed ground-and-pound, though Scoggins is doing well to avoid damage. Scoggins gets back to his feet, only to be tossed back down with 90 seconds remaining. Ortiz socks Scoggins’ body with punches, then goes upstairs with a pair of hard right hands. Ortiz spends the final minute on top, shutting down Scoggins’ attempts to free himself and tacking on some more body blows at round’s end.

Ortiz steps into range and tags Scoggins with a cracking left hand on the cheek. With 3:40 on the clock, Scoggins spins Ortiz to the ground with a fast takedown in the middle of the cage. Scoggins tries to take the back as Ortiz goes to his knees, but he can’t establish the hooks and Ortiz escapes to his feet. Scoggins presses Ortiz against the cage with double underhooks, pulls him to the ground and tries to bury his head as Ortiz sits up to drill him with elbows to the side of the head. Scoggins stands up, and now it’s Ortiz’s turn to try a takedown on the fence. They trade positions again before Scoggins hooks the left leg of Ortiz and rolls to his back. Down to the last minute now, and Scoggins gives up the position by attempting a toe hold. Ortiz rolls into Scoggins’ guard and gets busy with right hands to the body as the final seconds ticks away.

Carlos Augusto Filho vs. Derrick Lewis

Round 1

The big men have a bit of a feeling-out process in the opening minute, and then Lewis grabs double underhooks to put “Guto Inocente” on the fence. Referee Herb Dean quickly calls for action, so Lewis switches to a single-leg and works for the takedown. Inocente extracts his leg and circles out. Lewis catches a front kick and sends a right hook off Inocente’s glove, then pushes the Brazilian to the fence again. Lewis releases for a second to deck Inocente with a heavy right hook, then misses with an uppercut as they split. Inocente steps in to deliver an outside leg kick and gets tossed to the ground. Lewis leans low over Inocente, putting himself in danger of upkicks. The American dives on top of Inocente, missing a right hand as he does but coming down in good position to land more. Lewis pins down Inocente’s left arm, leaving his face exposed, and knocks the Brazilian unconscious with a pair of massive right hands. Inocente comes to just as referee Dean stops the fight, stands up and asks the official what happened.

The Official Result

Derrick Lewis def. Carlos Augusto Filho via KO (Punches) R1 3;30

“The Ultimate Fighter 19” Middleweight Final
Dhiego Lima vs. Eddie Gordon

Round 1

Gordon pushes forward on the larger man, moving Lima toward the fence, while the Brazilian tries to fent him off with leg kicks. Gordon connects with a pair of overhand rights, backs up a step and waits to attack Lima with a flurry of huge punches. A right hand on the temple takes the legs out from under Lima, and he tries to cling on to a single-leg. Gordon isn’t having it, and when Lima gets back to his feet, the Serra-Longo product sends him straight back down with an uppercut. Lima is in a state, getting overwhelmed by Gordon’s thunderous left hands on the ground. Referee Yves Lavigne sees Lima’s lights go out and steps in to stop the bout, making Eddie Gordon the 185-pound winner of “The Ultimate Fighter 19.”

The Official Result

Eddie Gordon def. Dhiego Lima via KO (Punches) R1 1:11

“The Ultimate Fighter 19” Light Heavyweight Final

Round 1

Anderson connects first with a short left hook on the end of a combination, then pushes forward to land a pair of crisp punches and plows Van Buren to the ground. Van Buren get back to his feet, trying to clinch, but he’s dazed and Anderson is unrelenting. Van Buren backpedals and creates some space which is quickly closed by Anderson. Another takedown puts Van Buren on his back, then he turtles up on his knees, where Anderson unloads with right hands until referee Mario Yamasaki stops the bout. Corey Anderson becomes the 205-pound winner of “TUF 19” with a first-round stoppage.

The Official Result

Corey Anderson def. Matt Van Buren via TKO (Punches) R1 1:01

B.J. Penn vs. Frankie Edgar

Round 1

Referee Herb Dean is the third man in the cage for tonight’s featherweight main event, with judges Sal D’Amato, Chris Lee and Glenn Trowbridge scoring. Edgar opens with a left hook around the outside and goes on his back foot while the taller Penn inches forward. A body-head combo scores for Edgar, then a stiff kick to Penn’s lead leg. Edgar connects with another right as he dodges a knee in the Thai clinch. Quick takedown for Edgar in the center of the cage, but he quickly backs out to stand and kick at the Hawaiian’s legs. Edgar comes back down to Penn’s closed guard, stands again and pops Penn with a left hand. Penn has butterfly guard now, forcing Edgar back to his feet. Edgar wants to come down into side control, but Penn continues to trap him in guard and wrap him up. With 90 seconds left in the opening round, Edgar postures up in Penn’s butterfly guard, tries to strike and winds up standing again. Referee Dean orders Penn to stand with 55 seconds on the clock. Penn is keeping a very tall, upright stance as he tries to jab Edgar, but it’s not really working as Edgar is able to dip inside and connect with left hooks at will.

Sherdog Scores

Jeff Sherwood scores the round 10-9 Edgar
Chris Nelson scores the round 10-9 Edgar
C.J. Tuttle scores the round 10-9 Edgar

Round 2

Penn continues to press forward in his upright stance, and Edgar continues to score with hooks and then duck out of range. Penn connects with a combination, prompting Edgar to floor “The Prodigy” with a double-leg a few feet from the fence. Penn once again uses butterfly guard to stifle Edgar’s offense. Edgar stands over his prone opponent, mindful of Penn’s upkicks, and then comes back down to land a right hand. Penn is sporting a sizeable mouse beneath his left eye as he continues to hold Edgar and slow the pace. Edgar just can’t pass Penn’s guard, but he is able to score with punches using both hands when he stands over the former welterweight champion. In the final 30 seconds of the round, Edgar starts landing some nasty elbows, and another lump forms on the outside corner of Penn’s left eye.

Sherdog Scores

Jeff Sherwood scores the round 10-9 Edgar
Chris Nelson scores the round 10-9 Edgar
C.J. Tuttle scores the round 10-9 Edgar

Round 3

Edgar ducks into range for a combination, slips to the side and puts a kick on Penn’s body, evading a counter from “The Prodigy” on the way out. Penn continues to pump his jab, even from way outside of range, while Edgar circles around him. Edgar double-pumps a jab in Penn’s face, eats a short left and foot-sweeps Penn to the canvas in the middle of the cage. It’s more butterfly guard from Penn, more elbows from Edgar, and now B.J. is sliced open. Penn is leaking blood all over the canvas from somewhere on the left side of his face, and Edgar finally passes to half guard. Edgar pours on the left hands, tacking on more damage as referee Dean takes a close look at the action. Dean tells Penn to work, but Penn does not, and after a few more shots from Edgar, the referee calls a halt to the bout.

The Official Result

Frankie Edgar def. B.J. Penn via TKO (Punches) R3 4:16
