UFC Fight Night 189 Medical Suspensions: Ilir Latifi Faces Possible 6-Month Layoff

Ilir Latifi’s first UFC victory at heavyweight might have come with a price.

The All-Stars Training Center representative is facing a potential six-month suspension following a unanimous decision triumph over Tanner Boser at UFC Fight Night 189 this past Saturday. Latifi must receive doctor clearance for a left eye hyphema as well as MRI and doctor clearance on his left elbow or he will be sidelined until Dec. 3. At minimum, he is out until July 6 with no contact until June 27.

The Nevada Athletic Commission recently released a full list of medical suspensions from the event to mixedmartialarts.com.

UFC Fight Night 189 took place at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas and saw Jairzinho Rozenstruik defeat Augusto Sakai via first-round TKO in the evening’s main event. Sakai is suspended until July 21 with no contact until July 6 due to left eye lacerations, while Rozenstruik emerged with a clean bill of health.

Two other athletes from UFC Fight Night 189 are facing potential six-month terms: Alan Patrick (left eye) and Sean Woodson (left hand, left knee).

Walt Harris: suspended until 07/21/21. No contact until 07/06/21

Santiago Ponzinibbio: suspended until 07/21/21. No contact until 07/06/21 – laceration under left eye

Miguel Baeza: suspended until 07/06/21. No contact until 06/27/21

Gregory Rodrigues: suspended until 07/06/21. No contact until 06/27/21 – left eyelid laceration

Dusko Todorovic: suspended until 07/21/21. No contact until 07/06/21 – inner lip laceration

Ariane Lipski: suspended until 07/21/21. No contact until 07/06/21 – lacerations around both eye

Ilir Latifi: must have ophthalmologist clearance for left eye hyphema and must have MRI of left elbow. If positive needs orthopedic doctor clearance or no contest until 12/03/21. Minimum suspension no contest until 07/06/21, no contact until 06/27/21
