Round 1
The two men touch gloves and Maeda is the first to land a punch. Yahya shoots and the two clinch. Against the fence, Maeda jumps in to a guillotine. Yahya goes to his knees and the choke looks incredibly tight. The few fans that are in the Hard Rock are screaming because it looks so tight. Still cranking on it for over 30 seconds, Yahya finally escapes. At the mid-way point of the first frame, Yahya stacks and Maeda pushes him away with his feet and the two men clinch against the cage. Yahya jumps for a guillotine of his on and works for it on the floor. It's deep and the Japanese fighter taps at 3:30 of round one.
"The fight was not easy. Had to train a lot and diet," said Yayha. "Maeda is a dangerous fighter. Every second of the fight I had to keep my perception."
"He was definitely ready to fight against my game. It was great."
Danny Castillo vs. Rafael Dias
Round 1
Castillo starts winging punches that miss. Dias is more technical and hits his opponent with straight punches that puts Castillo on his heels, and then causes him to look for a takedown. After some good takedown defense the fighters separate. Dias then attempts a takedown and Castillo sprawls. They stand and Castillo lands a nice uppercut that puts Dias on his back. After a moment of Castillo standing over his opponent, referee Jorge Alonso stands them up. On the feet, the fighters keep up a good pace throwing punches. In the clinch, Dias looks for a guillotine, but Castillo wisely moves away. With a minute left the fighters exchange leather again. An overhand haymaker that turns in to a shot for Dias misses. 10-9 Dias.
Round 2
Castillo paws the jab to start the second frame. Dias shoots and gets the takedown. Castillo looks to work the guillotine, but nothing is there. From full guard, Dias stacks and lands some punches. Castillo frames an armbar, but it’s not tight. In a scramble, Dias gets Castillo’s back for a moment but Castillo gets on top. After a moment, the two men are back on their feet. Dias shoots and misses. He winds up on his back and Castillo makes him pay. Castillo is raining down punches and Alonso is forced to step in at the 2:54 mark.
"I was extremely confident. I had two training camps because of the hurricane," said Castillo.
"I was supposed to fight Ed Ratcliff. I worked a lot of standup for this fight. And four days before, I find out I am fighting a ground fighter. It’s bittersweet."
Carmelo Marrero vs. Steve Steinbeiss
Round 1
The fighters touch gloves and Steinbeiss is the first fighter to land a punch. After landing a stiff jab, Steinbeiss finds himself on his back. The UFC veteran Marrero can’t hold him down for long as "The Hooligan" uses the fence to stand. Marrero then gets another takedown and lands in half guard. Steinbeiss gets guard again and frames up a triangle choke. The American Top Team fighter escapes and gets back on top. Steinbeiss then stands again. But Marrero's wrestling is too much. Back on the floor, Marrero works from full guard. Another triangle attempt is thrown up and again Marrero escapes. With 30 seconds left, Steinbeiss lands some elbows to the crown of Marrero’s head. The round expires. 10-9 Marrero.
Round 2
The second frame starts with a right straight, left body kick combo from Steinbeiss. Marrero answers with a body kick of his own. The UFC vet then gets the takedown. With his opponent’s head against the cage, Marrero works from open guard. Steinbeiss is defensive and has a half-butterfly guard. Marrero passes and looks to work a kimura. He then takes mount but Steinbeiss gets half guard one again. Steinbeiss gets some space and tries to stand. After Marrero is unsuccessful holding him down, they break away and stand again. Steinbeiss works the jab and forces Marrero to shoot. Steinbeiss wisely circles and Marrero looks gassed. Marrero throws a lazy push kick and finds himself on the floor after what looked to be a tired slip. Steinbeiss closes the round on top. 10-9 Marrero.
Round 3
Steinbeiss is the fresher of the men and it shows. On his toes, he lands a one-two and Marrero shoots unsuccessfully. A left hook is blocked by Marrero. But Steinbeiss finds his range and stuns Marrero. Marrero flops to his rear. On top Steinbeiss allows the ATT fighter to stand. Another failed shot by Marrero. Steinbeiss is sprawled out on top of Marrero while he is looking for a single leg. Marrero gives it up and goes to his back. Steinbeiss stands up and Marrero lands a right haymaker and Steinbeiss counters. Marrero finally gets the takedown he has been looking for all round. With half guard, Marrero starts to rally. He takes mount and is working a guillotine. Steinbeiss gets his head out and eats an elbow. Steinbeiss then gets his guard back and tries to stand. The round ends.10-9 Steinbeiss.
The judges see the contest 29-28 (twice) for Marrero and 29-28 for Steinbeiss. Marrero takes the split decision.
"I need to thank all my family at ATT. I took this fight on 5 days notice," said Marrero. “I was throwing for the clouds. I needed this win.”
Jose Aldo vs. Jonathan Brookins
Round 1
Brookins comes out southpaw and Aldo throws a right high kick. A left and a right by Aldo miss. A right low kick finds the thigh of Brookins. Again Aldo hits the thigh of Brookins, and he then follows up with a left and right to the face. Aldo is really finding his range. Aldo clinches and goes for a takedown. Brookins reverses and gets on top. Aldo kicks Brookins away and stands. On the feet it’s all Aldo. Brookins is forced to retreat while Aldo lands lefts and rights. Brookins still defends with composure. 10-9 Aldo.
Round 2
Aldo has a nice knot over his left eye. Despite taking most of the punches, Brookins looks good to start the middle stanza. Aldo takes the center of the cage and connects with a low right kick to the inner thigh of the southpaw. He follows up with a left hook to the head. Again, Aldo punishes the leg of Brookins. In the clinch the fighters work, they then separate. Brookins throws a right jab and a left straight that graze off of Aldo. Aldo answers again with a solid right low kick to the thigh of Brookins. Aldo continues the last moments of the second frame punishing Brookins’ lead leg. The round ends with Aldo pulling up on a flying knee. 10-9 Aldo.
Round 3
Brookins starts the final round with two jabs. Aldo then kicks the thigh of Brookins. Aldo then drops Brookins with a left hook and right straight. In survival mode, Brookins shoots but is eating leather. Referee Troy Waugh stops Aldo's punishment and has to also stop Brookins, who seemed coherent. However, the stoppage seemed to be warranted. The end comes at the 0:45 mark of round three.
David Avellan vs. Aaron Simpson
Round 1
The two middleweights take the center of the cage and Simpson throws a left to the body with a right hand over the top. The punch lands flush and knocks out the previously undefeated Avellean just 18 seconds into the clash.
Rob McCullough vs. Donald Cerrone
Round 1
The two standup fighters come out ready to exchange. “Razor” Rob throws a low kick and “Cowboy” answers with head kick that misses. The fighters circle and Cerrone lands a right low kick. Razor answers with a kick and a two-punch combo. McCullough looks confident with his strikes. Cerrone drops McCullough with a right and gets on top of the hurt fighter. Cerrone lands punches and elbows from on top. This cuts McCullough. Sensing a finish, Cerrone tees off. McCullough defends, and in a scramble sweeps Cerrone. Once on top, the referee stops the bout to check McCullough’s cut. After it is deemed McCullough can continue, the fighters exchange on the feet. Again Cerrone drops Razor and tries to finish. The round ends with Cerrone on top. 10-9 Cerrone.
Round 2
Cerrone takes the center of the cage and throws a right uppercut, left-hook combo that drops McCullough again. Cowboy looks to take the back and with hooks in, rides the back of the Team Punishment product. Razor then sweeps and gets on top. Cerrone grabs a near fight-ending armbar, but McCullough gets free and stands. McCullough lands a stiff jab to the face of Cerrone, and then a right hand. McCullough connect with a kick to the thigh of Cerrone. With less than a minute left, Cerrone answers a McCullough right hand with a jab and a straight right. 10-9 Cerrone.
Round 3
Cowboy takes the center of the cage and takes McCullough down. He manages to pass the guard of Razor Rob, but McCullough gets to his feet. A left leg kick and an overhand right score for McCullough. Cerrone answers with a left leg kick of his own. Cerrone lands a flying knee to the body of McCullough. McCullough lands a right to the left side of Cerrone’s head. A left hook and right high kick from Cerrone crash in to the head of McCullough. Cerrone solidifies his performance with a takedown. McCullough stands back up and the fight goes to the scorecards after Cerrone lands another flurry that buckles McCullough. 10-9 Cerrone.
The official judges see the bout 30-27, 29-28 and 29-27 for Donald Cerrone.
Jake Rosholt vs. Nissen Osterneck
Round 1
Osterneck ruishes forward and lands several punches in a sloppy flurry. Rosholt gets under the strikes and takes Osterneck down into side-control. Rosholt briefly takes his opponent’s back but a scramble by Osterneck returns the action to the feet. Osterneck is teeing off with left and right hooks. Rosholt clinches with his foe against the cage to avoid punishment. Rosholt trips Osterneck to the canvas and lands some powerful right hands from side-control. Referee Troy Waugh steps in after Rosholt knees the shoulder on the ground, thinking it was an illegal blow. Osterneck says he’s OK and the action is resumed in the same position. Rosholt advances to mount and bombs away with right hands until Osterneck offers up his back. The round ends as Osterneck gets back to half guard.

He escapes danger and passes guard into side-control after fighting off an omaplata. Osterneck gets back to his feet and blasts Rosholt with several looping punches and a knee to the head. Going for the kill, Osterneck slips while throwing a head kick and he pays for it. Rosholt moves to mount and peppers Osterneck with punches. Referee Troy Waugh warns Osterneck that he needs to defend himself. He steps in to halt the contest once Osterneck gave up his back, eating more leather. The official time is 3:48 of the second.
Jens Pulver vs. Leonard Garcia
Round 1
The fighters trade hard punches that miss in the first 30 seconds. Pulver cuts off the cage and gets Garcia against the fencing, but eats a hard right hand. And another. A third right hook finds its mark and Pulver drops to his knees. Garcia stands over his hurt opponent and blasts away with punches until referee Jorge Alonso saves Pulver at 1:12 of the first.
Paulo Filho vs. Chael Sonnen
Round 1
Filho drops levels and attempts a single-leg takedown that Sonnen stuffs easily. Sonnen lands a jab and a left hook that drop Filho to the canvas. Sonnen briefly engages the champion from guard before standing. Sonnen grabs the feet of Filho and kicks the legs of the downed fighter. Filho goes for a kneebar but Sonnen has none of it. Strange battle of leg kicks ensues, as Filho throws front kicks to the knee from his back and Sonnen stomps the right calf of the Brazilian. The boring round ends to a chorus of boos.

Filho throws a right body kick and eats a straight left from the southpaw. Filho gets deep on a single-leg, but Sonnen stops the takedown. Again a Filho shot is easily stuffed. Sonnen kicks the outside of Filho’s right leg. Filho attempts to pull guard, and is slammed to the canvas. Sonnen stands and jabs with his right hand. Filho sloppily tries to shoot. Sonnen defends it and ducks under a head kick. Filho blows his nose as soon as the horn sounds. It could cause some swelling as the fight moves to the final period.

Filho’s eyes are puffy as the third stanza begins. Sonnen paws a right jab out and Filho answers with nothing. The crowd boos as Filho stops in mid-shot to pull guard. Sonnen grabs the feet of Filho and punches the body. Sonnen stands and goes back to his jab while mixing in a low kick. Sonnen is throwing his straight punches at about 30% power, just looking to score with the judges as he easily has the first two rounds in the book. Filho eats a few jabs and an elbow before blowing his nose again. The awful fight comes to a close.

Filho’s eyes are puffy as the third stanza begins. Sonnen paws a right jab out and Filho answers with nothing. The crowd boos as Filho stops in mid-shot to pull guard. Sonnen grabs the feet of Filho and punches the body. Sonnen stands and goes back to his jab while mixing in a low kick. Sonnen is throwing his straight punches at about 30% power, just looking to score with the judges as he easily has the first two rounds in the book. Filho eats a few jabs and an elbow before blowing his nose again. The awful fight comes to a close.

Round 1
Faber lands a left and a right hook. Brown backs the champion up with a right hand. From the clinch, Faber scores with a knee to the chin before separating. The champion gets careless with a standing elbow. Brown counters it with a right hook and drops his opponent to the canvas. Face down, Faber covers while eating right hands. Referee Troy Waugh watches as Faber gets unloaded on. The fight is stopped and a new champion is crowned. The official time is 2:23 of the first.
