Matt Frevola vs. Josh Zuckerman

Round 1

Frevola opens with a leg kick, and Zuckerman immediately shoots for a takedown, but is hip tossed; he pops right back up. Both lightweights are fighting along the cage, Zuckerman completes a takedown, but is caught in the active guard of Frevola, who locks up a triangle, but switches to an arm bar. Back on the feet, Frevola connects with two thunderous hooks that hurt Zuckerman. Frevola looks to take the fight back down and sinks an arm bar, forcing the tap at 2:50 of rd 1.

Reggie Pena vs. Joe Johnson

Round 1

Pena paws a jab and immediately shoots for a takedown, Johnson goes down but won’t let the Champions MMA product secure position ,as he gets to his feet. “The Regulator” is punching in combination, lighting up his opponent left hands as the two clinch. Johnson eats a knee on the way out of the clinch, “The Puncher” can’t get any offense of his own. Pena is stalking his 49-year-old opponent now, connecting with uppercuts in close quarters. An overhand left from Pena puts his man on his saddle, Pena latches onto a guillotine, Johnson escapes and looks to work in guard. A triangle from Pena once again swings the momentum his way, as he sweeps to top and pounds away. Johnson turns to escape, but succumbs to a rear-naked choke from his opponent at 4:15 of the opener.

Hector Ochoa vs. Robert Reed

Round 1

Both middleweights begin swinging wildly at the start. When the pace of the fight normalizes, Reed, true to his “Chopper” moniker, begins to work on the legs of Ochoa with low kicks. The Mexican-American shoots for a takedown and completes, landing in half guard. Ochoa passes to to side control, but is quickly locked down back in half by Reed, who then regains guard. The fighter from St. Petersburg now seems content to sit on his heels and throw strike at the head of his opponent as the round begins to close. 10-9 Ochoa.

Round 2

Ochoa looks to open the second stanza with more of the same, but Reed is ready for it, stuffing his takedown and connecting with a knee as they part. Ochoa shoots another desperate double, but can’t seal the deal. Reed is stalking his opponent, kicking at his far leg. “Chopper” stuffs another double to keep things on the feet. Reed parries the little offense that Ochoa does throw at him, but seems to have some trepidation about throwing meaningful punches his own. The 10-second warning hits and Ochoa once again looks to take the fight down, Reed defends and works on a standing kimura against the cage as the bells sounds. 10-9 Reed.

Round 3

Ochoa finally sticks the double-leg that eluded him in the middle period. He’s sits in Reed’s guard, content to intermittently chip away. Reed is clutching the neck to keep his man from posturing. “Chopper” has the near arm tangled up at the midway point, looking to clutch the other. The hometown fighter gets his hands free, but can’t put anything together. Ochoa is punching to the body, then begins looking to overwhelm with punches near the close, but to no avail. 10-9 Ochoa (20-28 Ochoa).

Tony Way vs. Frederico Moncaio

Round 1

Moncaio is looking to play distance and work his kicking arsenal, going high and low to start. Wayfires a kick of his own, only to have it caught and find his leg swept. On the ground, a scramble ensues and the men trade positions. The Floridian featherweight looks for a choke but can’t finish. But men are standing, swinging heavy leather, with Moncaio taking the center of the cage. A monstrous right sends him to the mat, and Way swarms to finish. The fighter from Pompano seems to recover, but continues to get worked over by the offense of the “Only” having his bell run, turning tail and running. Way gives Chase, looking for the kill, but Moncaio makes it out of the round. 10-8 Way.

Round 2

“The Only” is looking to continue his success with wide power rights, but his opponent seems weary engage after the last round’s beating. As they get in close, Moncaio shoots but is stuffed by the man from Memphis, who jumps a guillotine but can’t finish. Way recovers position and begins to punch from the guard of the Floridian. Moncaio tries for a triangle, but abandons as soon as Way begins to lift him from the ground, rolling for a leg, missing, and getting back to his feet. The round closes with both men standing. 10-9 Way.

Round 3

Way is looking for openings on the feet, but can’t find the mark on his wide punches and head kicks. A hip toss from Moncaio slow things down as they end up in the dog fight position, where Moncaio looks for a triangle, then transitions to an armbar, but then loses position and ends up on his back. A wild scramble begins and Way latches onto his opponent’s neck with a guillotine.

Jose Cortez vs. Ryan Keenan

Round 1

Keenan takes the center of the cage and begins to kick low. He pushes Cortes into the chain link but the Colombian quickly escapes. “Who Dat?” remains the aggressor, working leg kicks from the outside. Keenan pins Cortes again and lands a crushing knee that puts “Colombian Necktie” on his bike. Keenan gives chase and drags the fight to the mat, where he begins to rain punches from half guard. As Cortes looks to work butterfly hooks, his opponent stands in his guard and lays in on his punches. Keenan is working for a guillotine, but can’t complete, however. He continues to attack from the top position as the 10-second warning sounds, Cortes manages to get to his feet to end the round. 10-9 Keenan.

Round 2

Keenan again opens as the aggressor, sticking a telephone pole in the fax elf his opponent as he takes the center. “Who Dat?” closes off a three-piece combination with a head kick attempt and pins things against the cage. Cortes works this to his advantage and takes the fight to the floor. The debuting fighter is looking to work his elbows as Keenan manages to stand. The 29-year-old again takes the center and begins looking to be aggressive. A lazy shot from Keenan ends with Cortes taking top position off of a sprawl. The Gracie product, however, is equally as aggressive off his back, looking for a triangle, then transitioning to heel hook that sends Cortes the walking other way. The round closes on the feet, at distance. 10-9 Cortes.

Round 3

Cortes is circling away, but the debuting fighter seems to have less left in the tank. Keenan, again, looks to take things down and pushes the action to the cage, Cortes defends. The Colombian shoots a single of his own, but finds himself in the front headlock, where he’s drilled with a knee and dragged down to the mat. Keenan takes his side, transitions to the back, where he sinks his hooks in and locks up a rear-naked choke, forcing the tap at 2:16.

Anderson Hutchinson vs. Troy Gerhart

Round 1

After some feeling out, Hutchinson plants his feet at the center of the cage, looking to connect on Gerhart. Both men begin to throw out feelers, as Hutchinson turns the heat up near-costly with a knee that almost saw him taken down. The Lightweight from Daytona Beach begins finding the mark at close range, as a looking right appears to stun his man. Gerhart gets in close, avoiding punishment, and gets a takedown off of a waist-lock, closing the opening round in half guard. 10-9 Hutchinson.

Round 2

“Pretty Boy” Troy looks to change the pace of the second round, taking the center of the decagon early. Gerhart begins shoots for a takedown but can’t finish. Throwing leg kicks, Gerhart is circling away, only punching on his way into clinch attempts. The fighter from Venice Beach succeeds in grabbing Hutchinson’s body, once again, tripping him. In full guard, Hutchinson shrimps his way to the cage and manages to stand. Troy looks to once again complete the same trip, but this time Hutchinson is ready, as he defends and takes the back. Anderson looks for a rear-naked choke but can’t close, instead motes to mount with seconds left. An ill-fated takedown attempt later, the bell sounds as both men return to their feet. 10-9 Gerhart.

Round 3

Hutchinson shoots a single, brings his opponent’s leg back up with him as he finishes, and gets the trip. Gerhart scrambles back to his feet against the cage. Both men are in the center the decagon in midrange, Troy kicking low, Anderson punching high. A short-lived takedown from Hutchinson completes, but the fighter from Champions MMA is quickly back to his feet. Gerhart begins looking to punch, trying to break through the shell defense of his opponent. “Pretty Boy” finds success at the 10-second warning with a spinning-back fist, which sends Hutchinson backpedaling, leaving Troy to push him against the cage at the final bell.

Maurice Salmon vs. Javier Torres

Round 1

Torres takes the center of the cage and begins to measure with his strikes to open this catchweight bout. He finds his way inside with a big right hand, but is poked in the eye by an errant finger from Salmon. After the break, the fighter from Jacksonville begins to look for strikes of his own, but again manages to poke Torres in the eye for another quick break. “Chunty Boy” is looking aggressive now, stalking Salmon, following him with kicking and punches, only to once again take an a finger to the eye. The doctor is called in and Salmon is given warning. Once the action begins, again, Torres resumes his work, but is caught with a nasty power shot that sends him staggering and drops him at the 10-second warning. Salmon is swarming with big punches, but doesn’t finish his opponent, who is now bleeding. Between rounds, The ringside physician calls a stop to the bout due to the swelling in Torres’ eye.

Jorge Patino vs. Eric Reynolds

Round 1

Patino takes Reynolds to the ground early, securing the front headlock position. As “Macaco” attempted to take the back, Reynolds was able to stand and connect with an uppercut as they split, ostensibly stunning the Brazilian. Patino shoots for a takedown of his own, but it’s stuffed. “It’s A Wrap” begins to swarm with punches as they separate, putting “Macaco” on his seat. Patino begins working for a heel hook, and is illegally kicked in the face by Reynolds. Referee Andrew Glenn calls for a pause in the action, then restarts the men in their positions. Reynolds fights off the MMA pioneer’s submissions, but Floridian fighter finds himself in half guard, taking elbows from Patino. The American gets back to his feet, but is met with punches and a swift takedown from “Macaco,” who closes the round in mount. 10-9 Patino.

Round 2

Reynolds opens the second stanza by walking down Patino into the cage, kicking his body. The two begin a wild exchange which “Macaco” gets the better of with a big combination. The Brazilian takes the fight to the ground, ab quickly gets full mount. An elbow from Patino further opens a cut on Reynolds’ head, the American is a bloody mess. “Macaco is woking from mount, poking for elbows, but is swept by the Floridian, who looks to land shots of his own. After some big elbows, Patino sweeps and regains half guard. Referee Andrew Glenn stands the action. The Brazilian immediately connects with a powerful pair of hooks and takes the fight to the mat once again, regaining mount. 10-9 Patino.

Round 3

Reynolds takes the center of the decagon, backing Patino up with kicks. The American connects with a jumping knee to the body, Macaco returns the favor with winging punches to the dome. “It’s A Wrap” is showing signs of beginning to use his length, but quickly abandons and settle for midrange. A missed high kick from Reynolds gives “Macaco” his back, who takes him to the ground from a rear-waist lock, and lands in mount. Patino is elbowing the bloodied American, but is beginning to look tired as he works for an arm triangle. Reynolds is able to escape, but finds himself turtled beneath the Brazilian. Macaco regains mount at the final bell. 10-9 Patino (30-27 Patino).

WSOF Women's Strawweight Title Fight:
Jessica Aguilar vs. Kalindra Faria

Round 1

Jessica opens herself up with a jab and eats a counter combination from Faria. “Jag” takes the center of the cage and lands an uppercut at midrange. Both fighters begin to exchange, as the champ pushes the action against the cage. Faria keeps things on the feet, and returns to distance. They exchange punches and the ATT standout eats a knee for dipping her head too low. The action is back against the cage for a moment. Both women return to the center of the cage. The Brazilian is swinging with no restraint. Aguilar ducks under a punch and gets in close range, unafraid to make things dirty. “Jag” ducks under another punch and connects big, sending Faria backward. The bell rings as the action is pushed along the cage. 10-9 Faria.

Round 2

Aguilar, again, looks to take the center of the cage. After some measuring, the champ shoots a double, driving Faria into her own corner and landing in quarter mount. The Brazilian begins to stand but is promptly dumped again. As Kalindra gets back to her feet, Aguilar connects with a big elbow in close quarters. At range, the champ lands an overhand right and shoots again, but Faria remains standing. Both women are standing at the center of the cage, with Aguilar getting the better of the exchanges. Faria looks for a chasse bas but is drilled with an overhand right. The action is once again pressed cage side, as both women jockey for position at the bell. 10-9 Aguilar.

Round 3

Faria answers a leg kick from Jessica with a big 1-2. The champ shoots but is toss by her challenger. Aguilar gets back to her feet, the ATT product is now in control against the cage. Aguilar scores a takedown and cuts from quarter mount to half guard. Faria walks off the cage to end up in a Vertical North south position, where Aguilar begins to punch and maintains control. The Macaco protege regains her footing against the cage and takes the dominant position. The champion turns it and splits. Aguilar finds a home with her overhand counter right. The round comes to close with the challenger shooting for a leg, and controlling the tempo along the cage. 10-9 Aguilar.

Round 4

The challenger comes out hot, firing punches, voluminously. Aguilar looks to get inside and is drilled with a knee. Despite the Brazilian’s volume, Aguilar is still landing the cleaner strikes with her overhand right. Jessica shoots, Faria attempts to, once again, hip toss her opponent, but didn’t take proximity to the cage into account, landing with Aguilar in mount. The champ looks to rain down punches, as Kalindra adjusts. Faria is able to improve to half guard and cage walk to her feet. The challenger is headhunting at the final bell. 10-9 Aguilar.

Round 5

The final frame opens with a big exchange that sees Faria land a nasty overhand right of her own. The Brazilian is on fire, landing in combination, she connects with a giant knew once Jessica closes the distance. Faria continues to attack, Aguilar patiently waits and takes it to the ground. The challenger regains her footing and continues her aggressive attack. Faria hits an overhand elbow on the way in, Aguilar responds with an overhand right. The final bell tolls with both women exchanging in the center of the cage. 10-9 Faria (48-47 Aguilar).

Melvin Guillard vs. Justin Gaethje

Round 1

Gaethje opens with a pair of leg kicks. Guillard is calmly evading the champion’s punches. “The Highlight Reel” lunges forward with strikes ad Guillard begins looking to find a home for his uppercut. Gethje puts his hans down and says something to bait the UFC veteran into a firefight. Against the cage, the champion lands a left hand and slips on a high kick. “The Young Assassin” gives chase but is unable to find the mark. The champion continues to press the action, and eventually seems to stun Guillard in the closing seconds. The men are pulled apart by referee Josh Rutgers after the bell. 10-9 Gathje.

Round 2

Against the cage, The Grudge fighter lands with an uppercut and follows with a straight left. Gaethje lands a knee as Guillard moves away. Both men are content to stay close, “The Highlight Reel” connects eiyh a pair of elbows and looks to use the thai clinch to knee his opponent. Guillard begins to uppercut, Gaethje backs away holding his eye and resets. The Champion continues to push the action against the cage, both men are landing. In the phone booth, they fight for control of the thai clinch, where the champion, again,eats some uppercuts and backs away. The fighter form Arizona closes the round with a big kick. 10-9 Gaethje.

Round 3

The champion opens with big leg kicks, which are seemingly beginning to affect his would-be title challenger. Guillard drills to the face with a big left and right straight. Gaethje is sending “The Young Assassin” stumbling sideways with every leg kick. “The Highlight Reel” gets into the clinch, looks for a knee, backs away and drills the leg repeatedly. The UFC veteran’s movement is nearly nonexistent at this point. They clinch up in a shoulder-and-collar tie, which Melvin gets the best of. Geathje Swings wide and connects as they clinch. On separation, The lightweight champion lands another leg kick that sends Guillard down. The round closes as the champ has found his range and connects heavy on his opponent, launching one final slapping high kick just before the final bell. 10-9 Gaethje (30-27 Gaethje).

WSOF Middleweight Title Fight:
Dave Branch vs. Yushin Okami vs. David Branch

Round 1

Okami opens looking to measure with his jab as Branch begins to look for power shots. The Japanese fighter takes the center of the cage as the champion is content to kick from the outside. Branch finds a home for a powerful overhand right that staggers the former UFC Middleweight. Okami manages to grab a waist lock as Branch fights to stay up. “Thunder” gets the fight to the ground and sits in guard as Branch attempts to keep him from posturing. Okami lands a clean punch and Branch begins to shrimp away. The bout returns to the feet and the round comes to a close with branch holding the challenger against the cage. 10-9 Okami.

Round 2

A slow start to the second stanza as both men reach out with pawing jabs. Branch connects with a thunderous kick to the body of his challenger. The WSOF Middleweight Champion latches onto a single and attempts to take the action to the ground, but “Thunder” stuffs it. Branch is coming alive with kicks to the body, finding his range with long punches. Branch clinches up against the cage but doesn’t look to take the fight down. The round closes with a big overhand from the Renzo Gracie student. 10-9 Branch.

Round 3

Branch continues to kick to the body of the challenger, looking for big shots. Okami is finding some success with his jab, but the champion is sticking out a telephone pole of his own. The champion ducks under a 1-2 combination from “Thunder” and clinches wight he Japanese fighter, who lands a knee on the way out. Okami lands a loud kick of his own to the body of Branch. The former perennial middleweight throws an overhand right on his way into the clinch and looks for a knee to the body. The men part and the round closes moments later.

Round 4

Branch begins with a kick aimed at his challenger’s head, which is blocked by the Japanese fighter. Okami lands a counter and the fighters separate. The challenger is staggered by another overhand right. The challenger continues to walk Branch down after recovering. After some more baiting, Yushin opens up and falls victim to yet another overhand right, this time, hitting the dirt. The champion follows him and puts together a finishing flurry, forcing referee Andrew Glenn to step in and call the TKO at 3:39 of the fourth round.
