Olson has promised to bring the fight to Howard, “[i]f we’re on our
feet I’m going to look to punch him. If we’re on the ground I’m
going to look to submit him.” Olson continued “I’m looking to take
it to him. I know Doomsday is a tough guy coming out of the UFC,
I’m a tough guy too… I’m going to push him non-stop, five minute
rounds. I’m going to look to finish the whole time.”
Howard, who can only be described as an exciting fighter, and who has used his hands to pick up wins over names like Dennis Hallman and Daniel Roberts in the UFC, has said that Olson has made the fight personal. “I can’t wait to straight punch him in the face,” Howard said. “I hope the ref physically comes and pulls him off. I was determined to beat him before, now I want to destroy him.” With animosity this strong, the main event of CFA 03 looks to be a knock down drag out brawl.
In addition to this amazing main event, CFA 03 will also feature Miami’s own, Mike “The Wolverine” Rio (6-1) facing hard-charging Zach “Juice” Juusola (8-1) in a lightweight battle that could steal the show. Both of these warriors are finishers, with 12 of their 14 combined wins coming by knockout or submission and both looking to leave the cage victorious.
If that were not enough, it will also be the semi-final round of the CFA Lightweight Tournament featuring undefeated lightweights Yosilandy Izquierdo, Christopher Garcia, Trent McCown, and Patrick Cenoble. The exciting first round of the tournament found three of the four fights ended by knockout or submission as the combatants battled toward the $20,000 grand prize.
