This Day in MMA History: Oct. 1 (UFC Live: Cruz vs. Johnson)

On Oct. 1, 2011, the Octagon went to the Verizon Center in Washington D.C. for UFC Live: Cruz vs. Johnson, aka UFC on Versus 6.

The main event saw Dominick Cruz defend his bantamweight title and beat Demetrious Johnson by decision. The fight also marked Johnson’s last bantamweight fight in the UFC before he moved down to flyweight and started his dominant reign.

The card also saw Stefan Struve pick up a submission win over Pat Barry, Anthony Johnson TKO Charlie Brenneman at welterweight and Matt Wiman edge out a decision over Mac Danzig.
