This should be a solid first test for Dumas, who is about what you
would expect from a Dana White’s Contender Series alum nowadays. He
possesses a resume full of quick finishes but one that is lacking
in terms of many real tests. However, there is some evidence that
“The Reaper” could be one of the better prospects of the pack.
Beyond his athleticism, Dumas has shown ability on the feet and on
the ground, and his lone decision win at least showed he can keep
up an effective level of offense for 15 minutes. For his UFC debut,
Dumas draws Fremd, who is looking for his first UFC win in his
third trip to the Octagon. An even larger middleweight than Dumas,
Fremd has a style marked around aggression at all levels that has
yet to get over the hump for a big victory. Fremd acquitted himself
well in a back-and-forth UFC debut against Anthony
Hernandez in April but disappointingly charged into a
guillotine choke from Tresean
Gore in his most recent outing on Oct. 29. Fremd brings more to
the table that could potentially throw Dumas off his game than any
opponent to date. However, given the UFC vet’s tendency to eat
offense and get finished by the hardest hitters on his resume,
Dumas gets the nod. The pick is Dumas via first-round knockout.
