There is no denying that Alistair Overeem is one of the most fearsome strikers on the planet. At UFC 225 this Saturday, however, he will be facing a young and hungry knockout artist in Curtis Blaydes. Before the two massive heavyweights go head to head, here is “The Reem” by the numbers.

44: Seconds was all he needed to knock out Yusuke Imamura in his debut fight at Pride Fighting Championships. He went on to have 13 more bouts with the Japanese promotion.

19: Seconds of precise striking unleashed on Todd Duffee at Dynamite 2010. With the win, Overeem took the interim Dream heavyweight championship.

2: Times he defeated Vitor Belfort. They first fought at Pride Total Elimination 2005, where he won by guillotine choke. Their second meeting was at Strikeforce “Revenge,” and he won by unanimous decision.

2: Times he defeated Mark Hunt. He first submitted the “Super Samoan” via keylock on the main card of Dream 5. Their second meeting was at UFC 209, where he won via knockout via knees.

3: Fights with Fabricio Werdum, and he won twice. Their first meeting happened at Pride Total Elimination Absolute, where he was submitted via kimura. Their next two fights were at Strikeforce and UFC, and Overeem won by decision on both occasions.

6: Former UFC heavyweight champions defeated. Apart from Belfort who was a UFC heavyweight champion, he also beat Werdum, Andrei Arlovski, Junior dos Santos, Frank Mir and Brock Lesnar.

265: Pounds of destruction. The “Demolition Man” has a total of 60 professional MMA fights, and he won 43 of them.

1: No contest on his resume. Overeem landed several knees to the groin of Mirko Filipovic when they met in a Dream contest. Prior to the incident, Overeem was doing well. He was able to take the Croatian down and mount offense from the top.

62: Significant strikes landed against Mir when they met at UFC 169. Mir landed 3. This was how one-sided his three-round war was.

13: Fights in the UFC. He’s won eight of them, and his victims include Mir, Lesnar, Stefan Struve, Roy Nelson, dos Santos, Arlovski, Hunt and Werdum.

1: “Performance of the Night” honor. Overeem and Arlovski met in the main event of UFC Fight Night 87. The Dutch kickboxer used a rare crane kick and a left hand to drop Arlovski and followed it up with punches to win by TKO.

38: Years of age. He was born on May 17, 1980.
