By The Numbers: UFC Mexico Pre-Fight Edition


The Ultimate Fighting Championship will hitch its wagon to ranked flyweights when two-time titleholder Brandon Moreno dukes it out with Steve Erceg in the UFC on ESPN 64 main event this Saturday at Arena CDMX in Mexico City. Meanwhile, Elevation Fight Team mainstay Drew Dober locks horns with Entram Gym standout Manuel Torres in the three-round lightweight co-headliner at 155 pounds.

Ahead of UFC on ESPN 64 “Moreno vs. Erceg,” a look at some of the numbers the fighters on the docket bring to the table:

392: Days spent by Moreno as undisputed UFC flyweight champion. He held the title from June 12, 2021 to Jan. 22, 2022 and again from Jan. 21, 2023 to July 8, 2023.

9,531: Miles between where Erceg trains at Wilkes Martial Arts in Perth, Australia, and Ultimate Fighting Championship headquarters in Las Vegas.

14: Dober wins by knockout or technical knockout, accounting for 52% of his career total (27). His list of UFC victims: Ricky Glenn, Bobby Green, Rafael Alves, Terrance McKinney, Alexander Hernandez, Nasrat Haqparast, Marco Polo Reyes, Joshua Burkman and Jason Gonzalez.

11: Consecutive calendar years in which Torres has fought at least once. He went 1-0 in 2014, 2-0 in 2015, 1-0 in 2016, 1-0 in 2017, 3-1 in 2018, 1-1 in 2019, 1-0 in 2020, 2-0 in 2021, 1-0 in 2022, 1-0 in 2023 and 1-1 in 2024.

400,000: Dollars in post-fight bonuses pocketed by Kelvin Gastelum across his 22 appearances in the UFC. “The Ultimate Fighter” Season 17 winner has been awarded “Fight of the Night” five times and “Performance of the Night” three times. Gastelum tackles Joe Pyfer in a three-round middleweight showcase.

92: Percent finish rate for Pyfer. The former Ring of Combat champion has notched 12 of his 13 pro conquests by knockout, technical knockout or submission.

20: Years of age for Raul Rosas Jr. The youngest fighter on the card, he was born on Oct. 8, 2004 in Clovis, New Mexico. Rosas Jr. meets Vince Morales in a three-round bantamweight feature.

59: Rounds started by Morales as a professional mixed martial artist. The Syndicate MMA export has gone the distance on 10 different occasions and carries a 4-6 record in those bouts.

56: Seconds needed for David Martinez to punch out William Sanchez under the Combate Global banner on May 31, 2019. Nearly six years later, it remains the Bonebreakers MMA rep’s fastest finish to date. Martinez takes on Saimon Oliveira in a three round bantamweight attraction.

13: Organizations outside the UFC for which Oliveira has plied his mixed martial arts trade. Dana White’s Contender Series, Pancrase, MTK MMA, Sicario MMA, Absolute Championship Akhmat, Fight Club Slam, Aspera Fighting Championship, K.O. Combate, Blasius Combat, Felino Fight, Secutor MMA, Floripa Fight Championship and GP Fight Show comprise the list.

5: Ronaldo Rodriguez victories by submission, accounting for 29% of his career total (17). His methods of choice: three rear-naked chokes, one guillotine choke and one armbar. Rodriguez puts Kevin Borjas to the test in a three-round flyweight appetizer.

109: Significant strikes by which Borjas has been outlanded in his two UFC assignments against Joshua Van and Alessandro Costa, both of them defeats. The ex-Inka Fighting Championship titleholder absorbed 202 such strikes against them and registered only 93 in return.

42: Years of age for Vinc Pichel. The oldest fighter on the card, he was born on Nov. 23, 1982 in Lancaster, California. Pichel faces Rafa Garcia in a three-round lightweight prelim.

.735: Cumulative winning percentage between the 26 fighters scheduled to compete at the event. They boast a combined record of 380-136-3. Dober has the most wins (27) and losses (14) of anyone on the card.
