By The Numbers: UFC Nashville

Cory Sandhagen used an unexpected approach to best Rob Font in the UFC on ESPN 50 main event.

The Elevation Fight Team product relied on takedowns and top control to cruise to a clean sweep on the scorecards in Saturday’s catchweight main event at Bridgestone Arena in Nashville. While it wasn’t a crowd-pleasing approach, it allowed “Sandman” to earn his third consecutive victory within the Las Vegas-based promotion. Font, who stepped in as a short-notice replacement for Umar Nurmagomedov, has lost three of his last four Octagon appearances. Here is a by-the-numbers look at UFC on ESPN 50, with statistics courtesy of UFCStats.com.

3: Takedowns landed in three attempts for Suarez, who also outlanded her foe by 12 significant strikes and logged 2:22 of control time in her victory. Suarez has landed 27 takedowns in seven Octagon appearances.
