Justin Gaethje continues to roll through the Ultimate Fighting Championship’s lightweight division.

“The Highlight” earned his third consecutive first-round KO/TKO victory in the UFC Fight Night 158 headliner, as he stopped Donald Cerrone with punches at the 4:18 mark of round one at Rogers Arena in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada, on Saturday night. The former World Series of Fighting titlist moves closer to the top of the division with his triumph over one of the sport’s most popular competitors, and he could be a prime candidate to challenge for 155-pound gold after Tony Ferguson gets his shot.

4: KO/TKO victories in UFC competition for Gaethje since 2017, tying him with Dan Hooker for the most in the lightweight division. In addition to Cerrone, “The Highlight” boasts KO/TKO wins against Edson Barboza, James Vick and Michael Johnson in the Octagon.

3: Consecutive first-round KO/TKO victories for Gaethje, who has needed less than five minutes to put away Cerrone, Barboza and Vick.

18: Career KO/TKO victories among 21 professional triumphs for Gaethje.

40: Significant strikes landed by Gaethje. By comparison, Cerrone landed 17. Gaethje landed 27 significant strikes to the head and 13 to the legs. Cerrone landed 12 to the head, four to the body and one to the legs.

13: UFC triumphs for Glover Teixeira following his split verdict over Nikita Krylov in Saturday’s co-main event. That ties him with Rashad Evans and Chuck Liddell for the third-most wins in the modern era of the promotion’s light heavyweight division. Only Jon Jones (19) and Ryan Bader (15) have more victories.

9: Combined guard passes executed by Teixeira (four) and Krylov (five) in a grappling-heavy affair. Teixeira also attempted two submissions, while Krylov tried one.

1: Bout to go the distance in 33 professional appearances for Krylov, who went to the judges for the first time in his career against Teixeira. Prior to Saturday night, “The Miner” had only gone to a third stanza on one other occasion — a TKO loss to Soa Paleilei at UFC 164.

1,522: Days since Todd Duffee’s last Octagon appearance, a first-round knockout defeat to Frank Mir at UFC Fight Night 71 on July 15, 2015. Duffee’s return was anticlimactic, as his heavyweight matchup with Jeff Hughes ended in a no contest due to an eye poke by Hughes. However, Duffee did land the first takedown of his seven-bout UFC tenure in the contest.

151: Total strikes landed by underdog Tristan Connelly in a unanimous decision triumph over Michel Pereira at welterweight. By comparison, the flashy Brazilian landed just 56. Connelly also held a 64-to-32 advantage in significant strikes landed.

77: Total strikes landed by Connelly in the third frame. The Canadian spent much of the period in top position controlling the action, while Pereira managed to land just five total strikes in the round.

40: Total strikes by which Antonio Carlos Jr. outlanded (81 to 41) Uriah Hall in their middleweight bout. Carlos Jr. also landed the fight’s only three takedowns but nonetheless fell to Hall via split decision.

34: Significant strikes landed by Hall. By comparison, Carlos Jr. landed 22. Hall also scored the only knockdown of the contest.

2: Peruvian Necktie submissions in UFC history after Misha Cirkunov used the maneuver to defeat Jim Crute in a featured light heavyweight scrap. C.B. Dollaway was the first person to accomplish the feat with a Peruvian Necktie submission of Jessie Taylor at UFC Fight Night 14 on July 19, 2008.

5: Career submission victories in UFC competition for Cirkunov. That ties him with Jon Jones and Glover Teixeira for the most in the modern history of the light heavyweight division.

6: Overall finishes in UFC competition for Cirkunov since 2015, tying him with Teixeira for the most in the promotion during that time.

3: Consecutive victories for Augusto Sakai, tying him with Francis Ngannou and Maurice Greene for the longest active winning streak in the UFC’s heavyweight division. Sakai knocked out Marcin Tybura in just 59 seconds in a preliminary contest on Saturday.

5: Combined submission attempts by Chas Skelly (three) and Jordan Griffin (two) in a preliminary featherweight tilt. None of the attempts were successful as the fight went the distance, and Skelly emerged with a three-round verdict.

31: Significant body strikes — out of 59 significant strikes overall — landed by Louis Smolka in a first-round stoppage of Ryan MacDonald at bantamweight.

136: Total strikes landed by Austin Hubbard in a unanimous decision victory over Kyle Prepolec in the card’s opening bout at lightweight. Prepolec, meanwhile, landed just 46 total strikes in defeat. After being outlanded 28 to 17 in the opening frame, Hubbard held advantages of 51 to 13 in round two and 68 to 5 in round three. Hubbard also landed all three of his takedowns in the bout’s final 10 minutes.
