Bruno Souza Wins Vacant Featherweight Title, Charles Johnson Retains at LFA 114

The main event of LFA 114 saw a new Legacy Fighting Alliance featherweight champion crowned.

Javier Garcia made the most of his shot at the vacant title out the gate as he was able to damage Bruno Souza on the feet and look for submissions on the ground. However, Souza (10-1) started to find momentum on the feet in Round 2 and was able to control the action standing. Souza continued to land the harder shots in the final three rounds, while Garcia (7-4) was able to land several takedowns. In the end, the judges preferred Souza's work on the feet and awarded him a unanimous decision with score of 49-46, 49-46 and 49-46.

The co-main event saw interim flyweight champion Charles Johnson defend his belt against Joao Antonio Camilo Neto. Johnson (10-2) repeatedly hurt Neto (7-5) on the feet while the Brazilian repeatedly looked for a takedown. However, Johnson was also the better grappler and had no issue taking control once the fight hit the floor and overwhelmed Neto with punches. The end officially came at 4:07 of Round 2.

Jimmy Lawson made quick work of Anthony Garrett. Lawson (3-1) came out throwing punches and never backed down after hurting Garrett (6-4, 1 NC). The knockout officially came after just 18 seconds had expired.

There was nothing ugly about Joseph Holmes' performance against DeWayne Diggs. "Ugly Man" put away Diggs (3-3) with a rear-naked choke at 2:48 of Round 2. With the victory, Holmes advances to 5-1.

Benjamin Bennett made easy work out of Elmar Umarov. Bennett dominated the fight and "Mr. Alaska" eventually put away his opponent in the second frame. After sitting Umarov (3-1) down with a series of clean punches, Bennett (3-0) unloaded until the fight was called off after 58 seconds of Round 2.

Will Starks got back into the win column by choking out Irfan Mulabitinovic. Starks (5-2) used his superior grappling throughout, but finally put away Mulabitinovic (1-1-1) late in Round 2 after locking in a rear-naked choke. The tap came at the 4:16 mark.

On the professional portion of the preliminary card, Raheam Forest knocked out Colin Parr with a punch after 1:31 of action; Dan Moriarty overwhelmed Joey Scanlon with punches at 3:20 of Round 1; Ira Lukowsky picked up a TKO win over Alex Macias after 2:32 of fighting; and Aaron Lake picked up a TKO victory over Josh Sutherlin at 2:09 of the first round.
