Luis Santos Demolishes Rafael Silva in One Championship ‘Tribe of Warriors’ Headliner

Luis Santos made it look like a walk in the park.

The well-traveled Brazilian jiu-jitsu black belt wiped out Rafael Silva with a crushing first-round knee strike and follow-up soccer kicks in the One Championship “Tribe of Warriors” headliner on Saturday at Istora Senayan in Jakarta, Indonesia. The end came 1:17 into round one.

Santos set the tone with thudding kicks, lured Silva (40-16) into his wheelhouse and sent him crashing to the mat with a brutal stepping knee upstairs. Two soccer kicks followed, prompting referee Yuji Shamada to act in Silva’s best interests.

The 36-year-old Santos (62-9-1) has not lost a fight in nearly four years.

In the co-main event, former Shooto Pacific Rim and One Championship titleholder Kotetsu Boku took care of Vincent Latoel with second-round punches and elbows. Boku (24-10-2) sealed the deal 4:04 into round two, as he extended his current winning streak to three fights.

After a competitive first round, Boku hit his stride in the second. He established range with punches and kicks, all while working a sublime counter game. Jabs, crosses and hooks all found their mark for Boku, who even threw in a spinning backfist for good measure. Late in the round, he pancaked a Latoel (16-17-2) takedown attempt, climbed to mount and unleashed a long unanswered barrage of punches and elbows until referee Olivier Coste had seen enough.

Boku, 38, has won three fights in a row.

Meanwhile, Polish export Marcin Prachnio disposed of Jungle Fight alum Alexandre Machado with first-round punches in a heavyweight showcase. Machado (7-2) succumbed to blows 2:44 into round one.

Prachnio (10-2) kept the Brazilian at bay with front kicks and knees to the body but nevertheless yielded a takedown. Machado failed to capitalize on the advantageous position and paid a steep price. Prachnio returned to his feet, fired his hands -- a right uppercut snapped back his opponent’s head -- and drove “Bebezao” to the mat under duress before closing him out with ground-and-pound.

Tatsujin Dojo’s Prachnio has rattled off five straight victories, four of them first-round finishes.

Elsewhere, Evolve MMA prospect Angela Lee submitted Rebecca Heintzman with a second-round rear-naked choke in their catchweight clash. The undefeated Lee (5-0) brought it to a close 68 seconds into round two.

Heintzman (2-2) was no match for her 19-year-old counterpart. Lee was brilliant from the outset and nearly pulled off the finish inside the first five minutes, where she battered the Binghamton, New York, native with punches, elbows, forearm strikes and knees from top position before threatening with a Peruvian necktie and later an armbar. She dragged Heintzman back to the mat at the start of round two, wheeled to the back and cinched the fight-ending choke.

In other action, Road Fighting Championship veteran Andrew Leone (8-2) captured a unanimous verdict over Koetsu Okazaki (10-5-1) in their three-round catchweight affair; Jimmy Yabo (5-2) knocked out Bashir Ahmad (3-3) 21 seconds into the first round of their catchweight tilt; Yohan Mulia Legowo (8-4) submitted Mario Satya Wirawan (5-3) with a guillotine choke 1:44 into the first round of their featherweight scrap; and Li Hao Jie (1-0) took a unanimous decision from Jerome S. Paye (2-2) in their three-round bantamweight pairing.
