Viscardi Andrade vs. Bristol Marunde

Round 1
The welterweights paw with jabs and feints, feeling one another out in the center of the cage. Andrade strikes first with a right hand down the middle, then a high kick. They exchange right hands and Andrade follows up with a pair of low kicks.

A left-right straight combination drops Marunde to the canvas and Andrade follows him down to grab a front headlock. Marunde powers back to his feet, but Andrade is waiting with a left hook that clips the American behind the ear and wipes out his balance. Andrade lands a couple additional right hands as a dazed Marunde shoots on the legs of referee Mario Yamasaki, who is already stepping in to call the fight. Viscardi Andrade wins his UFC debut with an impressive TKO stoppage at 1:36 of round one.

Francimar Barroso vs. Ednaldo Oliveira

Round 1
Barroso launches a pair of high kicks at his 6-foot-5 opponent, can’t get them and tries for a double-leg which Oliveira snuffs out. A hard outside leg kick connects for Barroso before he backpedals to evade the oncoming “Lula.” Another leg kick chops at the lead leg of Oliveira, who can’t seem to connect with long punches aimed at Barroso’s body. Barroso uses a wide left hand to swipe at Oliveira when the big man tries to get in range to strike. A frustrated Oliveira motions for the crowd to get loud as he continues to absorb kicks from the Nova Uniao product. Barrooso lands more leg kicks down the stretch. Oliveira finally catches up to Barroso and clinches up just before the round ends.

Round 2
Barroso continues to target the legs of Oliveira as he dances out of the way of his opponent’s punches. Oliveira catches a kick and dumps Barroso to the ground, where “Lula” strikes with some heavy ground-and-pound before Barroso is able to scramble up. Oliveira holds Barroso on the fence for a moment and shoots an uppercut up the middle on the release. Barroso wants a takedown now, can’t get it and pushes Oliveira against the cage. Oliveira reverses and continues grinding on Barroso with rough knees and punches in close quarters. Barroso unsuccessfully tries an inside trip before referee Leon Roberts separates the 205ers. Barroso switches to punches now and clubs Oliveira with a pair of good right hands and an uppercut-right hook combo. Oliveira throws a kick and gets taken down at the base of the fence, where Barroso is able to land half a dozen good right hands and a knee before Oliveira escapes.

Round 3
Barroso rushes at Oliveira, who tries to go low and winds up overpowered and on the ground. The light heavyweights roll through, back to their feet, and Oliveira reverses the clinch against the cage to sock Barroso with a couple right hands to the gut. Barroso turns it around and they tumble to the ground, then Barroso cracks Oliveira with a knee as they stand. Barroso spends another 20 seconds glued to Oliveira’s waist before he’s able to complete a takedown.

Oliveira gets his back against the fence as Barroso pops him in the face with short, quick left hands. Back to his feet goes Oliveira, eating another knee from Barroso along the way. Oliveira grabs the Thai plum and drills Barroso with a couple knees of his own before Barroso pins him against the fence. Ninety seconds left and ref Roberts restarts them in the center of the cage. Oliveira is coming forward, throwing wide, tired punches while Barroso tries equally tired counters, neither landing clean. Oliveira wraps up Barroso and holds him on the fence for the last 20 seconds.

Official result: Judges Mark Collett and Richard Winter score the bout 30-27, while judge Guilherme Bravo sees it 29-28, all in favor of the winner by unanimous decision, Francimar “Bodao” Barroso.

Rani Yahya vs. Josh Clopton

Round 1
Yahya strikes first with a right straight, then fends Clopton off with a kick up the middle. The Brazilian gets in and out with a combination, avoiding a clinch from Clopton. Seconds later, Yahya comes back, looking for a takedown and then dropping down for a heel hook. Clopton fends off the attack but surrenders top position to Yahya, who pops up and passes to half-guard on the cage side. They move off the cage and Yahya starts really hitting Clopton with solid punches and elbows. Yahya moves to full mount with 75 seconds left in the round, but Clopton uses butterfly hooks to push him back out. With 45 seconds to go, Yahya is back in mount; he sits up to drop three or four punches before the horn.

Round 2
Clopton hits Yahya with a body shot counter as the Brazilian comes hunting for a takedown. Clopton fends it off at first but eventually gets pulled to the ground at the base of the cage with his left arm trapped behind his back. Yahya capitalizes with right hands as he flattens Clopton out from half-guard, then advances to full mount. It’s careful work from Yahya in mount, being sure to maintain the position as Clopton tries to scoot toward the cage. Yahya sits up and gets busy with about a minute and a half left, dropping punches until the 45-second mark, when he goes to side control. Yahya finishes the round on top, in half-guard, tapping Clopton with short right hands.

Round 3
Yahya dives on a single-leg, but Clopton hits the switch and gets his first takedown of the bout 30 seconds into the final round. Yahya gets head-and-arm control from beneath, tries to hip out and gets shoved back down.

Clopton pushes the action over to the fence but can’t mount any offense before standing up with 2:45 remaining. A flying knee lands to the body of Yahya as Clopton jumps inside to tie up on the fence again. Yahya goes to a knee, eats a couple short right hands from Clopton and then sits with his back against the fence. Clopton allows the jiu-jitsu ace to stand, and Yahya pops the American with a good right hook before shooting on another single-leg inside the last minute. Yahya finishes the takedown and holds Clopton against the cage until time runs out.

Ian McCall vs. Iliarde Santos

Round 1
McCall gets the better of the striking in the opening half minute, moving in and out of range to pick at Santos with quick leg kicks. “Uncle Creepy” closes in and takes a kick to the body in order to strike back at Santos with a body-head combination. Santos swipes him with a right hand on the exit and McCall goes back to leg-kicking. Another combination gets through for McCall, and this time he follows up with a left hook that sends Santos wobbling back into the fence. Santos comes off the cage, tries a takedown and stuffed to his back. McCall frames up an arm-triangle, lets it go and stands up to dive back down and bomb on Santos with ground-and-pound. Santos tries to escape but McCall is all over him, adding an extra half dozen punches and a step-in knee as they stand. More leg kicks score for McCall, but Santos slows the attack with a wide right hand to McCall’s jaw, then another in the final moments of the round.

Round 2
It’s more leg kicks from McCall in the opening minute of round two, cutting angles and moving in and out on Santos, who is whiffing with wide counterpunches. McCall stuffs a takedown, hits an inside leg kick and circles out. McCall hits a leg kick, then goes to the body with the same leg, pops in with a punching combo and leaves Santos swinging at air with his counters. A stiff jab snaps back Santos’ head, and McCall follows up with more punishment to the Brazilian’s lead leg. Santos catches McCall shooting in and cracks him with a knee. McCall ducks under a pair of punches and shoots low, gets overpowered by Santos and winds up on the ground. Uncle Creepy crawls back to his feet with 35 seconds remaining and backpedals as Santos trudges forward. A short left lands for McCall, countered by a hard right from Santos, but McCall gets the last word with a clean uppercut right at the horn.

Round 3
McCall sprawls on a takedown attempt, circles out and comes in behind a right hook to try a takedown of his own. He gets Santos to the ground for a second, but the Brazilian muscles his way back up to continue swinging wide punches. Santos taps McCall with a right hand as he backs the American against the fence.

McCall won’t stay there and answers with a left hook before resuming his leg-kick attack. A hard left hook scores for McCall as he slips a punch from Santos. The Brazilian tries a takedown with one minute left, gets stuffed and eats a knee on the way up. McCall sticks a combination in Santos’ face, dips out and comes back to land an uppercut. McCall closes out the fight with a pair of left hooks, but Santos gets the last word with a kick to the groin just before the end of the fight. McCall drops to his knees in pain but gets up 20 seconds later to celebrate a decision which will likely go his way.

Official result: The judges score the bout 30-27, 30-27 and 29-28, all in favor of the winner by unanimous decision, Ian McCall.

Neil Magny vs. Sergio Moraes

Round 1
Magny has a left straight-right hook combo go off the arms of Moraes, who responds with a leg kick. The Brazilian sticks a jab in Magny’s face, and Magny comes forward with a three-piece combo that has Moraes retreating. They clinch up and Moraes hits an inside trip to put Magny on his back. The lanky Magny throws up his legs, maybe angling for a triangle, but jiu-jitsu specialist Moraes easily snuffs it out and moves to side control, then full mount with more than two minutes left in the round. Moraes slaps on a triangle and rolls to his back, elbowing Magny in the face as the choke tightens. Magny defends for a moment, but when Moraes hooks his leg and rolls through smoothly into top position.

The American is caught with Moraes now tightening the topside triangle, cradling his leg and is forced to tap. Sergio Moraes gets the impressive submission via triangle choke at 3:13 of round one.

Sheila Gaff vs. Amanda Nunes

Round 1
Gaff wants to touch gloves but Nunes is having none of it. Nunes shoots for a takedown, defends as Gaff works to hop on her back, and finally finishes the single-leg at the base of the fence. Gaff tries to squirm and escape as Nunes pins her down from side control and roughs her up with knees to the body. Nunes gets to full mount, but the powerful Gaff simply pushes the “Lioness” off and stands. Nunes takes her right back to the ground with a trip, then begins dropping heavy elbows and left hands which have Gaff in trouble. Gaff isn’t defending herself, so referee Herb Dean calls the fight, giving Amanda Nunes the victory via TKO at 2:08 of round one.

Vinny Magalhaes vs. Anthony Perosh

Round 1
Perosh connects with a right cross in the first exchange of the bout and Magalhaes tries to pull guard as he falls to the ground. The 40-year-old Australian gives his opponent no opportunity to recover, bashing through Magalhaes’ guard with right hands and turning out the Brazilian’s lights. Referee Mario Yamasaki jumps in to rescue Magalhaes, and underdog Anthony Perosh has scored a stunning, 14-second knockout.

John Lineker vs. Jose Maria Tome

Round 1
Tome sidesteps back and forth, moving around the outside as Lineker stalks. Lineker sticks his countryman with a right hand, then catches a kick to the cup but doesn’t take a break. He tracks Tome down again and drops him with a hard right. Tome scrambles right back up, waits a moment and dives on a double-leg which Lineker stuffs. Tome connects with a spinning backfist, but the momentum carries him away from the dazed Lineker, who recovers a little as he backpedals away from his charging opponent. Tome drops him again, against the cage this time, and briefly considers a guillotine before backing away. Lineker tries a shot halfway through the round and gets put on his back, but he’s quickly on his feet and clinching. Tome puts Lineker’s back on the fence and lands another strike south of the border. Lineker recovers and goes back to hunting Tome, who tries unsuccessfully to avoid Lineker’s punches and get in on a single-leg. Lineker taps Tome with one last right and trips him to the ground with a caught kick as time runs out.

Round 2
Tome clinches up to knee Lineker’s body, then takes one back from “Hands of Stone” as they separate. Lineker sprawls on a shot and has to pull his leg free as Tome rolls underneath for a heel hook. Maria hits an outside leg kick and then goes down, grabbing his right leg. Lineker wastes no time in pummeling Tome with heavy right hands at the base of the fence, forcing referee Leon Roberts into action. John Lineker wins via TKO at 1:03 of round two.

Thales Leites vs. Tom Watson

Round 1
Leites closes the gap and presses Watson against the fence, then spins to take the back and drag the Brit to the floor. The Brazilian alternates between hooks-in and pushing off Watson’s thighs with his feet in an effort to gain more leverage for a rear-naked choke. Leites pins his opponent’s right arm beneath his leg and works to slip his right arm underneath Watson’s throat. He can’t get it, so Leites switches to bashing Watson with hard right hands until Watson pulls his arm free and gets Leites’ hands under control. Watson gets to his knees with 90 seconds left, but Leites is all over him, sinking in his hooks and sitting up to punch from back-mount. Watson bucks him off, stands with 50 seconds left and immediately begins throwing hands in Leites’ direction, connecting with a couple rights against the fence. They come to the center and Watson closes out the round with a series of leg kicks and one up top which is partially blocked. A right hand from Watson lands right at the horn, drawing boos from the partisan crowd.

Round 2
Leites backs up Watson against the cage, flashing a jab in the face of “Kong” before grabbing a waistlock and pulling Watson to the floor. Leites moves quickly to full mount, then Watson gives up his back to avoid an arm-triangle setup. Watson scampers to his feet only to be ridden back down by Leites, who rolls to his back and again begins hunting for the RNC. Leites can’t get it, so he comes over the top and throws up an armbar on Watson’s right arm. Watson stacks up the Brazilian and tells referee Herb Dean that he’s not in danger from the submission. With 1:45 remaining, Watson pulls loose and steps back to get Leites back on his feet. Watson is throwing a variety of strikes, working knees and punches in the clinch. They move to the fence and Leites, with his back to the cage, hits Watson with a knee. They separate and Leites pops Watson with a couple jabs before being hit with an uppercut. Leites fails on a takedown attempt and the middleweights trade uppercuts just before the end of the frame.

Round 3
Leites gets in behind a left hook and presses a bloodied Watson against the cage, then changes to a double-leg. Time is ticking away as Leites just holds Watson in the clinch, working to trip the Brit to the ground. Watson scores with an elbow as they split, but as he presses forward to strike, he walks right into a Leites double-leg. Leites takes the back on the ground and holds on and as Watson stands up. Dragging Watson back to the canvas, Leites puts in both hooks and punches away with right hands.

Ninety seconds left in the bout and Leites frames up an arm-triangle as he rolls Watson over. Watson clasps his hands to defend as Leites tries to tighten the choke and hop off to the side. Leites is still trying to finish the choke when time runs out, and this one is headed to the judges’ scorecards.

Cezar Ferreira vs. Thiago Santos

Round 1
Ferreira works from the center in the southpaw stance, flicking kicks outward at the UFC rookie. Santos steps in and gets stung with a short left hand, then stumbles backward to the fence. Ferreira recognizes that his opponent is hurt, grabs hold of a headlock and pulls guard with a tight guillotine choke. Santos hesitates and then taps, giving Cezar Ferreira the submission win at 47 seconds of round one.

Lyoto Machida vs. Phil Davis

Round 1
Referee Leon Roberts is in charge of tonight’s 205-pound main event. Davis strikes first, pushing Machida out of the center of the Octagon with a front kick to the breadbasket. The wrestler lands a leg kick and gets a harder one in return from Machida. Now the Brazilian creeps on Davis from the middle, backing Davis toward the fence before “Mr. Wonderful” circles out to get some distance. Davis lunges forward with a Superman punch, sidestepped by Machida. Feints and twitches from Machida can’t get Davis to bite, but Machida puts a straight left down the pipe a moment later. Machida switches to the orthodox stance as Davis continues to kick at his legs and head. Suddenly, Machida rushes forward with a barrage of straight punches that have Davis in trouble, stumbling backward agains the cage, where Machida meets him with a knee. Davis hits a double-leg with less than 60 seconds remaining and leans left to right in half-guard, trying for a kimura on Machida’s left arm. He can’t secure it, so the Penn State alum postures up to thump Machida’s body with punches before the horn.

Round 2
Davis is pawing with punches that are mainly landing in the waiting hands of Machida. The light heavyweights continue to circle until Machida whacks Davis upside the head with a left high kick. Davis circles out and keeps trying to land punches, but he’s still not coming up with much. Machida blocks a right high kick, gets grazed with a Superman punch and comes forward with straight punches. Davis ducks underneath and tries to put the Brazilian on the fence, but Machida slips out. Just beyond the halfway point in the bout and Machida lands a low kick, then stuffs a takedown. Davis changes levels to try another double-leg and is again stood up. Machida comes straight down with the middle with a hard left straight to counter a Davis kick. Now it’s the right hand of Machida landing as Davis rushes in to clinch and take Machida down. Davis spends the last 10 seconds of the round on top, kneeing Machida in the ribs.

Round 3
Machida cracks Davis with a right-handed counter and circles out, mostly evading the aggressive “Mr. Wonderful” through the first minute of the final period. A hard left kick to the body of Davis sends sweat flying. Davis shoots on Machida’s legs and dives right into a knee, then has his back taken by the “Dragon” as they stand back up. Machida releases and tries to kick high, but Davis is out of range too quickly. A left straight from Machida blasts Davis, who tries for another takedown and is tossed away again. Ninety seconds left and Davis throws a slow leg kick outside, countered by a stiff right hand. Machida stuffs another takedown and continues swatting away punches from Davis before time runs out.

Jose Aldo vs. Chan Sung Jung

Round 1
Herb Dean is the referee for tonight’s 145-pound championship main event. Jung pushes forward with an uppercut which Aldo backpedals away from. Aldo waits on the outside and pops Jung with a long right hand to the face, then one to the body. It’s tense going in the early stages of the bout, the featherweights standing a foot apart with hands cocked. Aldo slaps low with a leg kick and backs out to meet Jung in the center of the cage. The champ sticks a combination in Jung’s face and lands a hard kick to the Zombie’s right knee. Aldo gets in and out with a long right hand that leaves Jung pawing at his eye. Aldo explodes into a double-leg, plows Jung to the ground and immediately lets him up. Just after the 10-second clapper, Aldo has a hard spinning kick blocked on Jung’s right side and tries to rush the Korean against the fence as time runs out.

Round 2
Jung is on the charge at the start of round two but Aldo is coiled and ready, striking back with a pair of right-handed counters. The challenger sends a good jab down the middle and takes a leg kick. Aldo steps off with an uppercut-hook that catches Jung at an awkward angle. A body-head combo from Aldo has slowed the Korean’s march, and now the champion pumps jabs. Jung, meanwhile, is coming up short on his punches, unable to close the distance. Aldo clips Jung with a left, gets backed away by a punch from the challenger, then comes right back to plow Jung to the mat in the center of the cage with a minute left in the round. Aldo works from cross-side control, leaning right to left and dropping short elbows on Jung’s face. Jung puts the Brazilian back in his guard and boxes Aldo’s ears with palm strikes.

Round 3
Jung gets Aldo on his back foot with pawing punches, then tries to fly in with a knee and winds up being slammed down at the base of the cage. Aldo straddles Jung’s right leg and presses the Korean against the fence while Jung loops his right hand around Aldo’s head with punches. Jung gets back to his feet with a wide base on the fence, but Aldo drags him back to his knees. Ref Dean calls for action as Aldo hugs Jung on the fence; after three more warnings, Dean splits them up. Jung lunges in with a left hand that gets Aldo’s attention. Aldo responds with an uppercut before going right back to the same position, holding Jung on the fence. Still defending the takedown, Jung tries to lock up a brabo choke, but Aldo pops his head loose and keeps working for the double-leg. Dean breaks them up with 15 seconds left and Jung rushes at Aldo with another flying knee. This one lands, but Aldo nonetheless grabs his challenger’s leg and whips him to the ground. Jung pops up and leaves Aldo on his back at the end of the round.

Round 4
Jung is getting his jab pumping early in round four, even getting Aldo to whiff on a counter hook. The challenger throws an overhand right and gets his arm caught up in Aldo’s left-hook counter, dislocating Jung’s right shoulder. Jung tries to pop the arm back into place, but Aldo is all over him, taking the challenger to the ground and pouring on punches. Referee Dean recognizes that Jung is out of this and steps in to prevent any further damage. Jose Aldo retains his UFC featherweight title with a TKO stoppage at 2:00 of round four.
