Maximum Fighting Championship Press Conference Announcement for MFC 38

(PRESS RELEASE) -- Three title fights highlight stacked lineup for MFC 38: Behind Enemy Lines The Maximum Fighting Championship is pleased to invite the media to the official press conference for the introduction of six men vying for MFC titles at MFC 38: Behind Enemy Lines.

The press conference will take place on Wednesday, October 2 at 2 p.m. at the Chop Steakhouse & Bar inside the Sutton Place Hotel in Edmonton, Alberta (10235-101 Street). Fighters will be available for one-on-one interviews as well as for video and still photographs.

MFC Owner/President Mark Pavelich will be on hand to meet with the media and discuss MFC 38: Behind Enemy Lines which will be held on Friday, October 3 at the Shaw Conference Centre in Edmonton, Alberta. The main card for MFC 38: Behind Enemy Lines will air live on AXS TV (formerly HDNet) throughout the United States beginning at 10 p.m. ET/8 p.m. MT/7 p.m. PT (check local listings for channel designation). The preliminary bouts for MFC 38 will be broadcast live on the Maximum Fighting Championship's Facebook page beginning at 8:15 p.m. ET/6:15 p.m. MT/5:15 p.m. PT.

For the first time in the history of the Maximum Fighting Championship, three title fights will take place on the same evening at MFC 38:

*Anthony Hamilton vs. Smealinho Rama, Heavyweight Title

*Jason South vs. Sam Alvey, Middleweight Title

*Tito Jones vs. Anthony Birchak, Bantamweight Title

All six title hopefuls will attend the press conference along with two popular local competitors who will be squaring off in the MFC's middleweight division as Teddy Ash faces Jared McComb.

MFC Heavyweight Title

Undefeated Canadian standout Smealinho Rama (6-0) puts his perfect record on the line in his shot at the MFC championship belt against Anthony Hamilton (10-2).

Rama, who was born in Greece and now fights out of Calgary, Alberta, has finished all six of his opponents inside the first round with not a single bout reaching the four-minute mark. Rama (Twitter: @smealinhorama) has won three fights each via knockout and submission. Rama, who is currently ranked No. 35 in the world, was named the 2012 Fight Matrix Rookie of the Year and also received the MFC's Submission of the Year for 2012.

Hamilton (Twitter: @A_Hamilton_MMA_) makes his organizational debut having won four straight fights - all first-round verdicts including three knockouts. Hamilton fights out of Albuquerque, New Mexico.

MFC Middleweight Title

The MFC's two best in the 185-pound division lock horns for the title as "Smilen" Sam Alvey (20-5) goes after the belt against unbeaten newcomer Jason South (10-0).

Alvey (Twitter: @smilensam) is making his second attempt that the title and is coming off a sensational third-round knockout win at MFC 37. The Temecula, California, product, holds 12 career knockouts. Alvey, who is ranked No. 50 in the world by Fight Matrix, is also a new dad and is married to America's Next Top Model winner McKey Sullivan.

South, who fights out of West Jordan, Utah, is a spectacular submission specialist having coaxed tapouts from his foes in nine of his 10 victories. South (Twitter: @jasonksouth) has five first-round wins to his credit along with one knockout victory.

MFC Bantamweight Title

The very first champion in the MFC's 135-pound division will be crowned as Anthony Birchak (10-1) matches up against Tito Jones (10-6).

Birchak, who fights out of Tucson, Arizona, is coming off a Fight of the Year front-runner for his action-packed decision victory at MFC 37. Birchak (Twitter: @abirchakMMA) has won four straight fights, and boasts three knockouts and five submissions on his resume.

Jones (Twitter: @titokidko) has won three straight fights and has three first-round knockouts on his career log. The Tempe, Arizona, product is a neuropsychology student and trained in boxing under Roy Jones Sr.

Ash vs. McComb

These two popular middleweights will open up the AXS TV Fights main card. Teddy Ash (3-0), who fights out of Fort McMurray, Alberta, has two knockouts to his credit and is making his debut in the Maximum Fighting Championship, while Jared McComb (5-2-1), who will have home-town support in Edmonton, Alberta, is coming off his first organizational win at MFC 37. A pair of lightweight battles will also be featured on the MFC 38 main card. One is the hotly anticipated rematch between Jonatas Novaes and Kurt Southern. The winner of this bout has been guaranteed a shot at the MFC lightweight title.

Novaes (11-4) is a Brazilian jiu-jitsu specialist fighting out of Chicago, Illinois. Novaes (Twitter: @jonatasnovaes) has won six of his last seven fights including a stunning, come-from-behind submission win over Southern at MFC 36. Southern (12-4), who hails from Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, rallied from his loss to Novaes by taking out former title challenger Mukai Maromo via first-round submission at MFC 37. Southern (Twitter: @KurtSouthern) has won four of his last five outings.

In the other lightweight matchup, two crowd-pleasers will clash as Aaron Gallant (5-5) of Calgary, Alberta, takes on Matt Jelly (3-2), who hails from Fort McMurray, Alberta. The MFC 38: Behind Enemy Lines undercard will have four fights airing live on the MFC Facebook page. Featured in the preliminary bouts are notable fan favorites including Garret Nybakken, Corey Gower, and Cody Krahn.
