RUFF 12 Post Fight Press Release

(PRESS RELEASE) -- With the completion of RUFF 12, RUFF fans have made it clear that RUFF 12 has been the best event since the beginning of the only government sanctioned MMA promotion in China. RUFF 12 proved that Chinese MMA and RUFF as a promotion has grown incredibly and is not showing any signs of slowing down.

The main event of the night put heavy favorite Azamat Gashimov against Chinese Lu Zhenhong who was on a 5-fight win streak. Azamat was able to put a stop to the top Chinese fighter’s win streak with a dominate unanimous decision win and proved that he is still one of the top Russian prospects in the world at the bantamweight division. Early in the fight Zhenhong seemed very surprised and thrown off by the Russian’s power and aggressive style being hit with powerful kicks to the body and punches to the head. Though Zhenhong proved that he can last with Azamat in the cage and actually started coming back in the 3rd round Azamat Gashimov dominated the fight with his constant pressure, powerful strikes and explosive takedowns. In this attention grabbing war of a fight both fighters proved they are at the top of the division.

In the co-main event of the night we saw 2013 featherweight Super Fight Champion Wang Guan knock out Muay Thai expert Jerson Estoro early in the 1st round. Early in the fight it seemed like it was a stale mate on the feet with both fighters blocking each other’s strikes. Wang Guan who has been training in Thailand with AKA Thailand decided to show some new skills he has been working on and took Jerson to the ground, after some powerful ground and pound Wang Guan stood up with Jerson following with his hands down allowing Guan to land a vicious uppercut to end the fight. Wang Guan wanted to show people that he is not done after his last loss and is training harder then ever.

To start off the main card Kuat Khamitov knocked out Wu Haotian in the 1st round. After taking Haotian down and working his ground and pound, Kuat mounted the veteran Chinese fighter and with a sequence of strikes knocked out Haotian to earn his second straight victory in the RUFF cage. Next up RUFF had two top contenders in the stacked bantamweight division, young Song Yadong took on experienced Mongolian Baasankhuu Damlanpurev, both fighters undefeated but only Yadong stayed that way. Song Yadong was able to reverse position after being taken down by the undefeated Mongolian and got to his back to secure the rear naked choke to earn himself his third straight win inside the RUFF cage.

The third fight of the main card also proved fans wrong; with the underdog coming away with a very impressive win. Mongolian Danaa Batgeral was able to submit the top Chinese fighter Amu Rijirigala in the second round after dominating on the feet and the ground. In Batgerals first fight with RUFF he has already put himself at the top of the rankings and is looking forward to a title shot.

The six opening fights of the night may have been labeled as the under card, but they were “main card” quality. Zhao Yafei was able to finish Galindez Odayao with an armbar after and fast pace fight that found itself all over the cage with striking and grappling. Otgontulga Rentsen was able to survive and early barrage of slams by Wulalibieke Baheibieke to land combinations on the feet to hurt his opponent and from there sink in the rear naked choke for the victory.

What turned out to be awarded the fight of the night Shamil Magomedov went to war with Shang Zhifa to pull off the controversial majority decision after and back and forth war. To open up the event we saw Yang Jianbing pull out the close split decision win over Yuanye, followed by a dominate rear naked choke win by Alateng Heili over Tom Ni and Wulijiburen used his impressive athletic ability to get a unanimous decision win over the powerful He Nannan.
