Beatdown: Roop, Volkmann

TJ De Santis and Jeff Sherwood were back at it Monday on The Sherdog Radio Network for another edition of “Beatdown.” Joining them was UFC 158 competitor George Roop and former UFC fighter turned World Series of Fighting lightweight Jacob Volkmann.

George Roop makes his return to mixed martial arts Saturday March 16th in Montreal part of the UFC 158 card. The Arizona native has been away from mixed martial arts for over a year due to injuries. Greeting him upon his return will be Reuben Duran. Roop talks about the layoff, how he feels he has improved because of it, and if he feels any pressure fighting coming off of back-to-back losses.

The Ultimate Fighting Championship is making significant cuts to their roster. Among the notable names of cut fighters is Jacob Volkmann. The lightweight joined TJ De Santis and Jeff Sherwood today to talk about his feelings after being cut from the promotion, his efforts to land a job with Bellator MMA, and where his head is at after signing with World Series of Fighting.
